Watching several sled drag races it appears the Nitro does much better than the Viper in the races, do they not have the same motor? Maybe the Nitro has had some work done to it

Many differences between the 2. The Vector (2011 and up )have much the same motor with a few differences, cam timing etc. Bottom line, the old Nitro motor was a stronger more aggressive motor with far less problems then the Viper motor. But the early chassis with it’s jittery steering had issues...

Nytro motor and viper motor are the same. Same cams etc. The Nytro is just a faster chassis, has a better ecu and better exhaust system.

I do realize that the Viper motor has a bottom dump exhaust that robs it of power, and that in 16 they changed rods on that motor which caused problems for some, but besides those same motor? Even Ecu and cams?
I was told by dealer when I tried out a newer Vector that it had a nytro motor with slight changes to ecu and can timing to take a bit of low end grunt away from it for reasons!!!

the ecu is completely different made by a different manufacture and is the cause of many peoples grief with the viper.

I will say that I have never tried out a Nytro, but was very impressed with the rented Vector that my buddy got for a day. That thing ripped on our up country trails. It ran 105 on the dream meter all day long. They do hang with the Apex for a while, and get great gas mileage!
Never tried a 4 stroke Viper, but you tell me how they go compared?

Poor factory clutching and ECU are the big issues on the Vipers, along with accurate speedos giving a false sense of slowness. A Viper running side by side with a Nytro that’s “doing 100” will only show 9o-91, most Japanese Yamaha’s are that far off. A clutch kit alone gave me an honest 10mph+ gain on my Viper, never seen over 90 stock, but I’ve seen 103 since!
