Well I thought I might be able to drill out the rivets and use stainless nuts and bolts. It seem that the middle few are behind the cooler so I will need to rivet the new flap on. I still have not found then large enough to keep the thing in place. The biggest ones I found 1/4 are still not big enough to rivet back in place. Any suggestions on what the actual size the rivet is?? Has to be over 1/2"

I will try and help ya out here.... Larger heads on rivets should be found at a good auto store or a metal fab shop (collision shop) but a fix would be to go to a good hardware store and find a steel washer with the right outside dia and a smaller center hole that the rivet fits nice and slip it on to the rivet and then you'll have a larger head to hold the flap on...... Rivets of any size can be found online for sure also.

Thanks!!!! I bought the largest orange rivits I could find. Didn't think about adding a washer as a back plate!! I'll check with the body store first but the washer (stainless painted orange) would definitely do the job. Thanks

Yup you can use a much smaller rivet with a fender style washer on the backside to give more surface area.
