I received my latest edition of Snow Tech (Oct/Nov 2009) and finally had a chance to look it over last night. I happen to notice they had an XTX in their fleet and I couldn't wait to read it. Much to my dismay they had little good to say about it. As I scanned through all the test fleet sleds something really alarmed me. How few miles they actually rode the two Yamaha sleds they had. It went like this:

2009 Nytro XTX 375 miles
2009 MXZ Adrenaline 600 HO E-Tec 3,053 miles
2009 Polaris Switchback 600 3,271 miles
2009 Arctic Cat TZ-1 770.8 miles
2009 Renegade Adrenaline 600 HO E-Tec 2,536 miles
2009 F8 Sno Pro 2,722 miles
2009 Yamaha RS Venture GT 252 miles
2009 Dragon 600 SP 939 miles
2009 Crossfire 800 Snopro 1,953 miles

The Venture got a ditto poor review.

Either the Yamahas don't measure up or the Snow Tech staff has been taken over by Snow Goer folk. I'll try and post the article later.

Here it is in pdf.

Either they didn't give it enough time to get it set up properly or they REALLY hate it. Makes me kind of second guess my purchase. #$%&*

I noticed the lack of miles too. The Doo's and Cat's had plenty of miles!

Hope Yamaha fixes their chassis department soon!

Would love to see Yamaha stuff a 180 HP 4 cylinder in a chassis as light and nimble as the 1200 Doo. It would be my next purchase for sure. I bought a 1200 Ski-Doo to tide me over till they get it right.

My hearts still with Yamaha. I'm sure they'll bring out their super light hypersled next season, or so I hope.

400 miles compared to thousands on other brands. At 400 miles that damn thing wasn't even broken in yet!!

I too was discouraged to read such an article.

All they (Snowtech) did was rave & praise Ski-Doo sleds throughout the entire issue. My 1st thought reading my new issue was maybe this magazine needs to be re-named SKI-DOOTECH.

I just re-upped for 3yrs., but this last issue made me wanna puke. If they are gonna get as biased as Sno-Goer towards one brand, I'll drop the rag & eat my money for the subscription.

I'm not brand loyal, I've owned all of the "big-4" at one time or another, but it's really making me wonder if BRP is paying off these magazine publishers???

If so........ here's a big #$%&* you BRP......... it isn't working. :moon:

my brother told me about the article and when you read most of these magazines, it is all focused around the 2 stroke sleds. I think they showed the bias in black and white and left their butt in the breeze.

NOT THE IN THING ANYMORE

well it seems snow tech has gone the way of others.on the band wagon -off the band wagon. lets all go jump off a cliff because someone else did it. thats why i dont subscribe to the mag anymore. its just another run of the mill manufactures advertising platform. who advertises the most gets the best write up. my xtx was great last year? now it sucks? what about polaris 800 blowing up. never seem to here the bad . dont care. all i know is mine starts, runs, is good on gas and i got a good price my for my last used yamaha.
when was the last time you heard about skidoos blowing up? thats right, i forgot, if you phone bombardier its just a isolated incident. i have heard that 3 times on my last 3 skidoos. oh! by the way. the motor is on back order mr wilks? yada yada yadah!

Well said DANX123, Well Said. Don't worry about these guys like they said they didn'nt even have them broken in yet the nytros are awsome just do some tweaking on the chasis, my 08 rtx went from the worst sled i rode to the best with a little help from these forms.

Nothing wrong with the Yami sleds, something terribly wrong with SnowTech Magazine. I used to hold them high when it came to beeing neutral and unbiased in the past, now I'm glad I don't read the DooTech Magazine anymore :) LOL

Well I don't want to look through everything with blue colored glasses. In my opinion the XP/XR chassis is probably a better riding chassis. I knew that when I bought my XTX. If the XR had an engine closer to the Nytro's I would have gone with it in a heartbeat. I am just hoping I can get it somewhat dialed it before burning 300 miles on her. It seems Sno Tech gave up pretty quick on her. I wonder what the difference was between the prototype and the production sled. Rarely does the prototype feel nicer.
