Hi
I´am also looking for a softer take of with my turbo nytro.
Just to be sure to order the right thing i want to ask the following question.
When you say "YPY short" spring, is this the right part number: 90501-582J1-00. (From the "short cover primary spring" table in the tech section of ty4stroke)
And is this the only part needed? Or is there additional components as shims that needs to be ordered?
Also, do I need a puller to do the job, or do I only remove the spider with normal wrenches from the garage?
cheers, and thank you for a great forum

No you do not need a puller. you can do it with the clutch on the sled. Just unbolt the cap which has 6 bolts, there will be some spring pressure so push on the cap as you are unbolting. loosen them evenly and notice the x under the cap to realign for balance. remove spring and reinstall.

I just ran the BOP soft start spring in my Apex up in Munising, MI. I'm very pleased with the lower engagement and the sled still pulls hard! If there's any loss of performance; I don't notice it, but I'm not a super aggressive rider either.
Long story short...this spring is staying!

what is your engagement coming in at? These things make a lot of torque in the bottom end that's why they can pull from low engagement. I'm thinking of making mine engage at around 2500 to 2800rpms. less track spin on take off. has anyone tried engaging that low and what spring did you use?

I'm going to order the Yamaha 20-119 spring to see If it will engage at around the 2800 rpms. the stock spring has a pre-load of 35 and the one I am ordering is at 20 pre-load. this spring is a Pink-Blue-Pink.

There is no pre-load information marked on the soft start spring.

Bullit01, there is no “pink-blue-pink” listed in the previously posted spring table/chart...
What is everyone’s preference for soft springs?
cheers

Thx. What sled is this on?I use the orange pink orange spring with 14.5 rollers it starts off really smooth.
I have read that rollers don’t necessarily need to be replaced.
