I've read tons of threads on primary springs and realize a few vendors in the states have specific springs to sell. I'm located in northern Canada and shipping/time is to great from the US. Confused to which Yamaha primary spring to get, to lower engagement rpm on my 2014 viper xtx (stock blue silver blue spring). Also sled is completely stock.

I use the Barn Of Parts soft start spring. I got it because I was worried I would go through the back windshield of my SUV on loading the trailer or going over the bars when I put it in reverse.

I also am using Travis’s (BOB) soft primary spring and love it. Smooth lower engagement.Second season with no issues.

X2 Second year also. No issues and what a difference it makes. My arms are thankful. lol

I'm using the BOP soft start spring for same reasons above. It's worked fine now 3 seasons. I can't figure out for any reason why Yamaha would use such a hard jerking spring. It was dangerous loading my trailer and just plain uncomfortable starting out. The soft start spring was a big improvement putting the engagement where it should have been.

Using any yamaha spring with an initial preload of 30kg will give you a smooth engagement between 2800 and 3000RPM.
But if you want to have the same finish rate than your stock spring then use the white-pink-white spring #90501-583L5-00.

Did this spring help you guys with your top end, or engagement only? There is now a Viper in my group.

I’m currently using WPW with the Venom kit and it very smooth low engagement. Finish force is the same as BSB in force testing results I did 2 years ago.
