I sold my 2009 venture mp in October.
I sold it for 6500.00. It was in very, very good condition and the buyer got a deal. It was purchased new in 2013, it sat at the dealer for 4 years before I bought it.

After I sold the MP, I bought an Indy voyager 600. I was looking at that sled for some time and the right deal came along. It is fast, light and fun. These were the elements that I truly wanted the MP to have after a couple of years getting stuck, yelling at the reverse and beating ice out of the tunnel.

I put 2 thousand kilometres on the indy voyager this winter. I pulled gear, played in the powder and didn't get stuck nearly as much.

But for about 1800 kilometres of the 2000, I essentially was touring and hauling big loads. For every inch I travelled, I missed my old MP. In fact, I was kind of sad that I let it go.

Sure the steering is crappy, yes it weighs a ton, and no doubt it is not made for deep snow fun. But, the MP has charm, it's engine is strong and it pulls gear without flinching.

A few weeks back I was getting ready to head out to my buddy's cabin for the weekend. We were bringing our wives and planned on staying a couple of nights to finish off the year of snow.

3 days before we left, I saw something...a facebook post: A 2009 MP for sale, a mere 200 kilometres more than mine had when I sold it (only 1700) in excellent - lady driven - condition.

I decided to just check it out. But when she offered me the sled for 4500.00 I made up my mind then and there: The polaris is getting a for sale sign.

That weekend, on my MP, my wife was overjoyed with the comfort compared to the Indy. The fuel consumption for the weekend was excellent in comparison. And the fully loaded komatik with my wife on back was a cinch for the trusty, heavy, ugly, charming, one of a kind sled.

I have owned 5 sleds in my life. The MP is weird, and it's my favourite.

It does grow on you, doesn't it? Welcome back!

a friend of mine has a MP and he didn't like it because we drive mostly in deep snow or shitty trails, he was stuck all the time. But then he put on a ski-doo summit track, they are the same width and it was the same pitch he only had to extend the rails by 3inch or so. He has now a track with 20inch(51mm) lugs and that sled is unstoppable now. He can stop in the middle of a hill and start going again(me on my nytro mtx turbo can't) This sled deserves a bigger lug track:) And he did not change the gearing eater so it proves that the sled is strong.

20 inch lugs? Cool but there might some interference with the tunnel :p

It does need a better track. I got a 1.5" Crossover track, made a world of difference even though I don't go off trail that much. And the stock 16" wide crap Ripsaw track you can only get it from Yamaha at $1000+ (yeah, right!). Much better tracks out there and less costly. Even with the loss of 1" width, you don't lose that muck floatation but gain a lot more traction.

But not 144". There is a 144" x 2" x 16" but for trail riding would not be suitable. 1.5" is just right for both on and off trail, hence the Crossover track.

Yea for use mostly on trail a 2inch would be bad but if you drive like us that drives mostly off trail or on shitty trails its perfect:)

The MP can stay on top of powder, but it is not nimble, and it can sink like a brick. I have considered bigger lugs for next year. But the track I have now is in perfect condition, so I'll get some nice trail riding out of it, and when my buddies venture off into the bush, I'll sit and drink coffee.

I'd love to see what your buddy's machine looks like with the 2" track.

BTW, my indy voyager has a 2" track and it wasn't too bad on trail. The overall ride is nowhere close though.

Can't wait for next season. I know I will be cursing the MP at times, but I believe I'd curse every single sled on earth for one reason or another.
I love this working, hauling family machine.

So, I've done it again. I sold my second MP, and bought my 3rd.

Late summer, my wife got a job offer in the NWT. We had lived there before and were excited to return. I knew I wasn't going to be carting my MP from Labrador all the way to the NWT, (7 thousand km) so I sold it.

I was bummed. The deal I got on that machine was the best I could have possibly asked for. But I really had no choice.

When I got to the NWT I looked around at all the dealers to see if there was anything else out there for a decent price that i would want. In the end I found a 2011 MP with 0km on it. The dealer had it lying around and he made me a pretty decent deal. I will be picking the machine up next week.

Hopefully this one will stay with me for years to come.

Welcome back!

Sweeeet, I was looking at a 2011 with 800kms before I bought my 2014. Although, as a name I like Blue bettter than White.

Agreed. I actually think white is the weakest of all their colour schemes. This one just happened to be the deal. I like that it still has the wide skis.

That's right. That was just before they went to those lame tuners. (lame for deep snow anyway)

Every time I read this thread it brings a tear to my glass eye ...
