I have a pretty much stock '03 and am wanting to start throwing upgrades on it starting with the MPI transfer kit and clutching. My question is if I ride about 60% trails and 40% powder what should I go with? I am really hoping this transfer kit helps me get the front end up more (I do already have simmons skis), but know this clutching will help also. Any ideas and how hard is it to do??

Regearing

Does reclutching and regearing work together or defeat each other? Because I have now read that guys are regearing too. It's so confusing!

Both can effect each other, as the clutching is calibrated to appropriately load the motor upon acceleration, and changing the gearing can change the amount of torque seen by the primary clutch.

Rule of thumb, lower gearing means the 2ndary can shift easier, thus allowing for more helix angle.

Unless grass dragging though, the RX is not a sled that likes to be geared down.

The stock clutching is very conservative.
