just bought a 04 warrior a couple months ago. rode it for the first time in the first snow and the speedo stays on zero. the miles dont go up either. replaced the speedo sensor and the problem still exists. checked the wires on the back of the cluster and those are all good. rest of the cluster works great except for the speedo and odometer. would new driveshaft bearings fix the problem? thanks for your help.

Is the little gear like thing still on the end of the drive shaft near the sensor?

Sounds like you have an issue with either the gauge itself, or the ECU may have a fault. You may have to have your dealer hook it to the comouter to diagnose that one..

There is no fuse in the Speedometer Sensor circuit. There is a gage power fuse. But, the whole gage does not work if that fuse goes. As I read this, it just sounded a bit confusing. But I let it go. Then there was another post that made reference to this post reading like there was a fuse in the sensor circuit. So, I came back and clarified this.

So webzwarrior: Is the whole gage dead or just the Speedometer and Odometer?

Assuming you have tested the sensor and checked the connection at the sensor end, most likely the gage has a problem. Anybody around that you can swap gages with for a test?

nobody that i know of. all of my friends have 2 strokes. :4STroke: i changed the sensor because that is what i was told was wrong by a local dealer. put the new one on and nothing changed. that same guy also told me that it could be the bearings but i havent changed those or looked at them. the connection to the speedo sensor is fine and everything looks how it should... :o|

Well, ... you might want to consider looking at the PTO Drive Shaft bearing. If you are not sure it is good, how can you be sure your are not messing up the new sensor? I guess I figured that this was obvious. But, I guess not. Sorry, I did not pick up on you not checking the bearing.

after i put the sensor in i rode it around the yard and havent had time to look at the bearing. if the odometer wasnt working, does the computer record the miles anyways?

You might want to get back to the bearing before you ruin the new sensor.

But to answer your question; If the ODO is working but the Speedo is not, then you have a gage problem.
