2017 L-TX-LE Sidewinder
Hurricane Tuned 225/240/270
Thunder Clutching
12,000 miles as of 2/8/2022
Both our 2017 Sidewinders with Hurricane Bundles started to have 2 issues at the exact same time, both have 8,000 and no issues over the 4,000 since the tunes.
Issues
1. When the fuel would get below 1/2 tank we would experience intermittent hesitations on acceleration like it was lean or needed fuel usually on acceleration if you feathered the throttle it would straighten out
2. Now both of them will stall(or almost stall) on medium to heavy decal going into turns, kind of scary but will start right back up. Fuel level doesn't matter
I have seen posts about others having these exact issues and one tried fuel pumps, regulators and had no luck. Also have heard MAP sensor issues, however another guy swapped MAP sensors and it still was doing it, also I was having a MAP issue(PSI read 8 at idle) on mine and with the help of Dave from Hurricane he sent me a 2 bar tune so I could ride and I still had this stalling issue on decal and turning with the oem 2 bar MAP.
I will be going up with 2 new updated GAP map sensors and new SS or super spool tune bundles and will lyk how it goes.

I am running the xs825 belt and the stock 35 helix with TP orange secondary spring.
I cranked that spring to 3-3.
When I let off from full throttle at 80mph it will back shift so fast and hard it will momentarily stall the engine. Backing off the spring wrap took care of that.
A shallow helix and a stiff spring with a grippy belt makes an abrupt backshift.

well, that's interesting because we both put new belts on at the same time and then started to notice these issues. We got 1,500 miles on the last belts maybe we have them too tight or too high on the secondary ? I really hope this is the issue, but I'm sure its not that easy, lol

I shared this because I hope it helps with your issue.
Being too high in the secondary doesnt matter above 5mph.

Also check tps for #*$&@ and giggles!!!
My turbo viper would stall on decel and found the tps was out!!
With sled on (not start ) hold bottom left and right gauge buttons.for 5 secs to access maintenance mode! Scroll to tps and adjust to spec!!

If the primary clutch does not quickly release the belt on hard braking you could end up with your brakes not only slowing or stopping the track but also slowing or stopping your engine. A new belt is obviously wider then your old worn belt and this could intensify the issue as clutch/belt side clearance is less. You could try running your old belt again to see if the condition improves, this would help you determine if its clutch/belt related or not.
The type of clutch weights you run could also contribute to the issue as they may release later at lower rpm then stock, some weights create a condition that you can actually hear slap the clutch open when you come back to idle after engagement.
I would thoroughly inspect your primary clutch for issues that can cause it to bind like all the bushings on the cover as well as the sliding sheaves and rollers and weights.
Tuned Sidewinders are really loading and wearing all clutch components and need regular inspection and maintenance.

Do they still have that big half mile crushed limestone track in MkHenry? I raced quads on that track years ago. That crushed limestone would take tha paint off everything and ruin a pair of goggles in one race.
