Starter motor turns over but the engine doesn't

Brand new SE and at 19 miles I stopped to watch my son ride his snosport around then after several minutes went to start my sled up " NO GO " starter motor turns fine but wont turn the engine over. dropped it off at the dealer and " Yamaha" has never seen this problem!
Is this for real or a lie?? Anyone had this problem on 08's or 09's

starter may be running backwards, my phazer did this. Search Phazer forum

mine is doing the same and i am waiting for a starter relay to see if that is my problem also.battery is brand new from warranty.mine is in the garage so it cant be from the weather.mine is an 08 nytro rtx with not even a hundred km on it.

could be the same as mine was - 3 bolts on the starter clutch (one way bearing) sheared.
