my phazer won't start the next day after riding, turn the key several times and doesnt do anything. the spedo lights up and everything, lights are all bright. dont think it is the battery. after turning the key on and off about 6 or 8 times it will start up. starts up on first turn then after riding for awhile. is my starter gonna go? new one?

Can you hear the fuel pump when you turn the key to light up the display>

Can you hear a 'click' noise when turning the key all the way?

yes the fuel pump turns on and it does click when turning the key all the way.

Next time it does it jump the big wires at solenoid with key on to see if it turns over then.If it does then its your solenoid.

Yep, solenoid. Just replaced it on the Phazer. It did exactly the same thing. Flick the key a few times it would eventually kick the starter. A common issue.

I don't remember the part number, but when mine went, the partsman sold me one from a Yamaha quad. Same part, 1/2 the price.

Warm up the solenoid with your hands or a hair blower. Its situated at the tip of your right foot toes when sitting on the sled. (behind the ecu, under the battery)

Mine does the same thing, it will click a few times on cold days. If its really cold, I park the truck beside the sled with the exhaust aiming at the ecu. It warms up the solenoid)

No that would be the relay. If it were the relay behind the ECU you would not hear the Fuel Pump prime.Solenoid is right by battery and has the big red wires on it.

My solenoid didn't work any better in a heated garage neither so the cold has nothing to do with it.

It has been starting right away after keeping It in the 50 degree heated shop. Left it outside over night Saturday night and didn't wanna start right away the next morning. Do u know what the part is called on yamaha's website ? Thanks!

Sorry, your right , its the relay I was referring to.
And when mine 'clicks', I warm up the relay and everything gets back to normal.
