Hey guys...I am new to the Phazer (just bought one a couple of weeks ago). It has 2,600 miles on it. I have been reading through the Phazer topics here and picking up alot of good info. The one problem I have that I would like to find out why its doing this is...(when cold--initial start up) when I turn the key to start it (after I let it cycle) nothing happens. I turn the key back to off again and repeat the starting process two or three times and then she catches and cranks over and starts. Once she is warmed up and ran a bit...it starts no problem. The first thing I did when i got it home from the dealer was I hooked up the battery tender jr and the green (charge light) came on after a short while so I am assuming the battery is good. Any ideas? Thanks.
**Also, just taking a shot here...I bought it from Off-road Express in Erie PA. The Phazer is a white and orange RTX. I was wondering if the guy that traded it in happens to be on the TY site here. If so...could you provide me with the history of this Phazer. You could PM me if you like...Thanks.

Thanks prozac500. I guess I will call the dealer and see if the update has been done. If not...trip to the dealer.

I know a bunch of guys in your area. Will see if they know your sled. For your issue I would look at all the electrical connections, relays and solenoid.Start with cleaning and dielectric grease them. Also make sure if you have that yellow grounds block that it is updated.Sure sounds like a bad connection somewhere.

Your welcome.
If I were you I would check to see if the ground plug is starting melt first. Then call your local dealer to see if they will fix it for free. I don't think they keep track of this because it's not listed as a recall on less it happens to your sled. IF THIS IS WHAT IS GOING ON TELL THEM THAT IT IS THROWING A 81 CODE WITH THE BLUE HIBEAM INDICATOR ON THE DASH. Good luck!! I hope this helps.

I called the dealer and he ran the vin#. He said the (2) recalls that were performed (in May of 2009) were the Ball Joint recall as well as the Elec.Sub Harness recall. Would the Elec.Sub Harness consist of the yellow plug that is prone to melting and/or the ground wire for the main harness corroding? I am not seeing the 81 Code or the Blue Highbeam Indicator. All its doing is when I turn the key (to start it) all I get is a single click, then I will turn the key again...click, turn the key a 3rd time and then she will crank over and start.

try the starter solenoid. tap on it while you try too start it the first time around.
may have condensation on it.
i've heard it's located in front of the battery.
