Has anyone changed out the steering column in a Viper or SW? Kids rolled it and bent it and would like to change it out. Any tips?

I bent mine and it was not a big deal to change. Dealer did it and charged me an hour of labor.

Thanks but the dealer is 3 hours away. Easier to change it myself, travel wise.I bent mine and it was not a big deal to change. Dealer did it and charged me an hour of labor.

I understand that. However if they only charged an hour then you should be able to do it in two I would think. Ergo, it cant be that tough for an average wrencher. Good luck. You will have to remove the hood (6 screws). Two under the front, two by the top A arm and two by the top under the side panel. You will also probably have to remove the rubber boot on the right hand side to get to the bottom part. Make sure you Locktite the 17mm bolt on really well. That helps with steering slop.

Thanks. Figured it out. Removing the boot and removing the charge tube, is key. Took 1/2 hr.
