Rode the peninsula of Wi a week or so back. We rode a lot of trails and fire rodes that had not been groomed or ridden on so we were pushing a lot of snow. Twice that day my steering locked up and it would not turn to the right. I checked the steering post, brackets, bolts and joints. Nothing is damaged, was this due to snow getting into the belly pan and freezing and locking things up. Each time it happened I had to stop and crank on the bars hard to get them to turn right. Every time i heard a load cracking noise and it would break loose. Anyone ever have this issue? Sled is a 2014 RTX

Could be it’s a known problem. In powder the radiator melts a lot of snow so the powder that does get in there is wet and gets packed in. Doesn’t take long to get stiff if it sits when it’s cold out.
And inspect the steering support down where the post bolts on. Known to crack and there is a reinforcement kit available.

Noticed a huge amount of snow and ice underneath on my 2016 LTX. Solved that problem right away with some black Gorilla tape. I covered all the openings I could see, and put some on the edges of the rubber boots. Never had a buildup since.

Lee I had a lot of ice build-up coming out of the tie-rod boots and between the bulkhead and lower plastic belly pan cover. I used black Flex-seal tape along the mating edges of the front of the nose cover and belly pan cover along with the tie-rod boots and then rode fire lanes in the U.P. in the Ottowa National forest last week and did not have any more problems.
