Steering Stop

Finally working on sled again. Noticed something. The steering stop which is in both my original and new bulkhead hits on the back of it both sides! Should it not be hitting the protrusion? Can see the witness marks on old bulkhead which never cracked at stem mount but did on both upper arm front mounts. New one I put the reinforcement kit in. Same situation. I am thinking the stem should have the corners that hit ground off till it hits the actual stop. So the reinforcement kit they came up with is a joke. Should have came with a properly designed steering stem right?

Thanks . Yea I bet they all are! No wonder why they cracked. I am going to take stem off and grind the corners where it hits so it will hit where it’s supposed too. Will turn a bit tighter too.

That is weird, I guess they don't want you steering so hard.

I played around with this. With sled in air and my toe set to 1/8in out the spindle hit A-arm at exactly same time the stem hits the plate. Both ways. So nothing would be gained in grinding the corners. Would almost have to be at toe in for it to matter and dont want that. Those spindles and arms will take more forces than the tierods and that plate would. I wonder how many that cracked that mount actually had toe set too far in?
