The last few rides on the sled ive noticed that the brake is very stiff. I basically have to pull it as hard as i can to get the track to actually lock up. The first 2000km I could touch it with one finger and the track would nearly lock up. Any ideas??

I would agree with the glazed pads if it is something that started recently. But I believe it's a lousy brake to begin with. Even my wife gripes about it. My Nytro had a decent brake. My Phazer had a decent brake. My Rush has a great brake. I tried different pads and I replaced the disk with a slotted one. It still sucks. At least it finally stopped squealing.

I didn't think the brake was that bad when it was working properly. The engine brakes enough that you hardly need them. You could be right about oil or something being on them....I did just have the oil separator issue and oil all over the place. I first noticed the brake issue after I had it on the trailer for awhile with the brake lock on. Felt like I had no brakes at all compared to what it used to be.

I have an extra Yamaha master cylinder that I keep threatening to install on my Viper but it hasn;t yet happened.

The pads wear a groove into the caliper. When you buy pads from Yamaha the outer caliper is included. The piston also can stick from dirt. The piston also wears into backing plate of pads. I agree not up to Yamaha standards other than feel when everything is working.

If it first happened after having the brake locked on for a long period of time does that sound like the piston may be sticking ?
