kuvasz said:that's stock. what are you guys about changing a couple of things to make your sled better. by changing the crappy clutching and the lousy gearing yamaha gave us doesn't mean we're still not stock. what it means is we take pride in running our sleds and we show it. the rest of the "doubter's" out there can keep running their 105-112 and complain to someone who cares, i know i don't.
until you start to change anything on the power plant, which i mean the engine it's still a stock machine all you've done is get the 150hp from the engine to the ground. it's still the same engine with the same hp isn't it? so why isn't it stock? were not changing the gearing because yamaha puts 24 teeth gears in their sleds dont they? why yes they do. people use the yamaha clutch they just change the weights so they get more rev's, yamaha clutch right? what's modified from stock? nothing, only we had the brains and the know how to make them better.
if i wanted to hear BS about being stock i'd join the acrtic cat boys, lol.
The problem is you are misleading guys that actually do have stock sleds into thinking they should be able to take that sled out and run these speeds. It's fine that it isn't stock and you are getting good numbers... just quit calling it stock. As you said, stock gets you 105-112. With MODIFICATIONS you can get much more. You can't use the word modify and stock in the same paragraph and expect to be taken seriously. Your post makes it sound like you can just take the engine and put it in anything and it is still a stock Yamaha Apex. Sure a stock motor.... but clearly not a stock sled. All that said.... Impressive numbers and I am also jealous you have places to test like this. It'd be great to get out there and try to improve all the time.

I dont doub't you ran those #'s I have seen them on my 06 RTX years ago but it had to be perfect conditions and a healthy tail wind. As far as your sled running 113-114 in 1320' I question that again because you showed up to the gracenhurst radar runs and ran 104-105 maybe tops. I need that magical gun you guys are useing because my 2011 XTX ran 106.8 that day so that means if I were to come where you guys run I could run 115-116 in 1320' LOL
I am not questioning your speeds just the distance your running, keep up the good work.

my cousin ran the sled 106.9 that day remember? i beat your sled by .1. the 4 speeds i got were 105.4, 105.9, 106.4, 106.9 all on that worn out track. it was hard getting traction when some turbo guys chewed the crap out of the stock lane, haha. i've invited you to come up and run with us.
i guess we'll wait until next yr. if i know i'm running 1320' all the time i'll change my gears to 20-21 top tooth and get there early before all the trubo's wreck the track

adjustments are fine (ie suspension adjustments shown in the user manual). If you have taken a part (ie gears, clutch parts), and replaced it with another part that did not come on the sled, then it is now modified.
ISR rules as stock is pretty much what he's done
I have not read ISR rules, so I believe you.
I wasnt passing judgement at all. I merely meant to point out to some that "stock with x,x, and x " is not necessarily stock. Gears, clutch, exhaust, lid, etc are mods for example.
There are a lot of people in performance forums that seem to think if you dont crack into the internals of the engine, then its still all stock, lol.

tinkering with gears and clutch weights is stock if you ask me.... just tinkered with...04JRB said:Dano said:04JRB said:stock = no modifications.

I agree with that to a point, sure. I feel that when parts are swapped out, by definition it is modified, but thats just a general definition, not ISR's by any means (as I dont know their rules). Its all good though, no biggie!
I have much more backround with performance cars, where people forget what "stock" is, lol. They tend to think that stock has many shades of gray! such as "Im all stock, with rear end gear swap, cold air intake, exhaust, tuned" etc.. lol!
If it would have been a better winter around here, the bench racing would have been less, Im sure. But what else would I read about at work?
