The above diagram will result in less wattage.

It is not about wanting to spend $175.
It is about having something that simply works and won't let you down.
4x4 is correct, the above diagram will make the bars much colder.
The two pics are reversed.
The text is also reversed.
The mod you are referring to is the Rockerdan Mod.
It will work, however, ONLY with the early '06 bars with NON-heated hooks.
It does not work on any of the heated hook bars or any other year.
It also imposes a great risk to the stator on your sled.
Unfortunately, the stator damage is cumulative and invisible until it fails.
Hope this helps!

BS. Make the bars much colder and damage the stator?!?!?! It's one or the other, stop confusing people. The mod can't be applied to 07 because it is already there via the sub-lead. There is nothing to reverse. It is already been done by the factory.
Take another look at the two diagrams. My cartoon supports the 07 sub-lead factory drawing P/N and pic above, period. My sig says 06 and don't tell me it's backwards it doesn't work because I can make my gloves smoke!!
What I do know is:
1) The 06 bars are hotter than the 07 bars.
2) The mod above was the factory wiring in 07 (sub-lead to rewire in series) along with lower wattage grips to include the hooks.
3) Nothing about 08-11.
4) My little fingers do not get cold with this setup.
So if you have an 07 then the above mod is already in place and you need to do something different, like 06 bars or YH. I admit I have no clue 08-11 and should not have posted without asking the OP what year sled he had. As far as destroying the stator, why does the YH require a higher amp fuse?? You think this extra power to make your hands hot comes from the flux capacitor? ha! And puts no additional load on your stator?
I made this mod after reading Rockerdan's thread on the subject including all the bashing from the ruins your stator crowd and if there was evidence that stators were blowing due to this mod you would see it right here on this forum because plenty of guys have done it. I am offended by the "if you don't buy the product and attempt to fix yourself you will ruin your sled" pitch. System components are usually stressed by performance improvements whether mechanical or electrical. That being said, I don't run over 50% and 3-4 bars is plenty @ 0 deg. I have 2,000 mi. on this setup with the SS Ultras which are also higher draw than stock. Am I asking the stator to do more work? Hell yeah! You will with the YH too.
The YH is perfect for people who want a plug and play solution and do not want to change bars, check the wiring and/or risk making a mistake crossing a wire/shorting something etc and screwing something up, in this case go for it, spend the money and you can sleep at night but don't think for a minute that no additional demands are being placed on the stator in excess of the loads as delivered from the factory. This is just simply not true.
Trails are open, first ride of the season yesterday, it was sweeett!

Never said the mod didn't work, simply stated that it puts the stator at great risk.
What I do know is:
1) The 06 bars are hotter than the 07 bars.
With the Rockerdan mod, yes. With the right power supplied, any grip can be hot.
2) The mod above was the factory wiring in 07 (sub-lead to rewire in series) along with lower wattage grips to include the hooks.
The sub-lead re-wires them in Parallel, not Series.
3) Nothing about 08-11.

Correct. Correctly done, the Mod is very effective at producing heat.
So if you have an 07 then the above mod is already in place and you need to do something different, like 06 bars or YH. I admit I have no clue 08-11 and should not have posted without asking the OP what year sled he had.

The fuse increase is required because the power is drawn from a different point in the system than stock.
In fact, we route the Current source AND the ground Current differently from a stock sled, because it increases the reliability of the sled.
There are connections buried in the wire harness of your sled that fail faster with more current through them & we work to lower this risk also.
You think this extra power to make your hands hot comes from the flux capacitor? ha! And puts no additional load on your stator?
No-one said anything rather ridiculous like that.
Anyone with a little common sense, knows that ALL electrical energy comes from the stator on our sleds.
My point has always been keeping the current in a range the stator can handle without failure.
I made this mod after reading Rockerdan's thread on the subject including all the bashing from the doesn't work and ruins your stator crowd and if there was evidence that stators were blowing due to this mod you would see it right here on this forum because plenty of guys have done it.
Actually, most of the concerns up-front with the mod were about the ECU, most never thought too much about the stator.
Funny, I was in a garage full of sleds last year, all Yamahas.
They were telling me how much they loved the Rockerdan mod.
I asked why they were putting a YamaHeater on one of the sleds rather than the Rockerdan mod.
He stated that both had dead stators.
They really didn't want to tell me.
It's kinda like this thread, if yours dies, most likely you aren't about to tell anyone after you posted all this.
RockerDan came up with this (and took alot of abuse) at a time when there was no other options other than freeze.
(He did really great with it, and was willing to at least try something!)
I am offended by the "if you don't buy the product and attempt to fix yourself you will ruin your sled" sales pitch.
Actually, this is a bit off-base.
Have told many people that did not need a YamaHeater, that they don't need a YamaHeater.
Publicly, on this very site and many others.
It's not about just selling stuff, it's about helping out and taking care of people.
If I just sold stuff to people they don't need, then your description would fit, however that simply isn't the case.
Simply stated the fact that the mod allows the stator to be easily loaded beyond the point of failure, imposing a great risk to the stator.
System components are usually stressed by performance improvements whether mechanical or electrical. That being said, I don't run over 50% and 3-4 bars is plenty @ 0 deg. Please report the current draw with the YH and boost box and I'll check mine @ 50% and we can settle this stator loading bs. Maybe I will eat my hat. The YH is perfect for people who want a plug and play solution and not willing to risk making a mistake and screwing something up, in this case go for it, spend the money and you can sleep at night but don't think for a minute that no additional demands are being placed on the stator in excess of the loads as delivered from the factory. This is just simply not true.
As stated prior, ALL electrical energy comes from the stator.
The key is keeping the loading with-in the limits of what the stator can handle with-out un-due risk of failure.
We actually limit the current output to help protect the stator & keep it with-in safe limits while still providing Nice Warm Hands.
That is the main issue, there is only so much current you can draw from the stator & keep it alive, at the same time you have to draw enough to be warm.
It is an engineered balance.
Hope this helps!

Myself & others that have posted are trying to NOT confuse people.
We clarified what was wrong & what the risks of use are.
The drawing & text are incorrect & will greatly confuse people trying to possibly use it.
If you wire as the drawing currently indicates, it will make the bars colder.
If you wire them "properly" per the Mod, it puts the stator at failure risk.
The mod can't be applied to 07 because it is already there via the sub-lead. There is nothing to reverse. It is already been done by the factory.
Actually, it is done by the Factory Wire Harness, there is no sub-lead on ANY year but 2006, and ONLY the 2006 sleds with the update kit.
This was also pretty much stated in a prior post.
"The mod you are referring to is the Rockerdan Mod.
It will work, however, ONLY with the early '06 bars with NON-heated hooks.
It does not work on any of the heated hook bars or any other year."

It's simple logic that no matter how you heat the bars hotter than stock you HAVE to be drawing more current. So either technique taxes your stator beyond what it does without either mod and without question. Does the stator have excess output to spare? Some have said it does but not very much. So there is a risk either way IMO. But most mods have a risk involved so you weigh the risk and benefit and make a choice.

For most 4 stroke owners out there I think the consensus is to go with the Yamaheaters for reliably warm hands with a fairly easy install.
