Saw the following on the www.johndee.com website in the general discussion area in the Miscellaneaous Area:
On Friday, March 30, 2007 between 8:15am and 2:00pm our enclosed snowmobile trailer with two snowmobiles in it was stolen from our yard in Freedom, WI. My husband and I have been riding sleds together ever since we met 7 years ago. This past year we made a huge investment and bought two new sleds that we had planned on keeping and enjoying for many years to come. We love riding together and are just devistated and can't believe they are gone. I am posting pictures and a copy of the flyer that we have been putting up all over our town and all the towns in our area. We are trying to let as many people know as possible in case someone by chance see's them and so other people can watch out for their property so the same thing doesn't happen to them. We read this web page all the time and rely on it all winter long for the forcasts to plan our trips up north. This is a great web page for all snowmobile lover. We are just praying that someone will see our sleds or trailer somewhere and we can get them back. We are offering a $500.00 reward to anyone who finds our property or gives us valuable information which leads us to getting our property back undamaged. Please call 920-687-2463 with any information.

I'll keep an eye out I'm only 20 mintues from where you live.
Not mine
Not my sleds or trailer, just posted to help get the word out.
A person who knows the owners of the items said they only had insurance on the trailer-OUCH! Hard to believe that!

Unfortunately the same can be said about insurance, insuring a sled is twice as much (x10) to insure than a trailer, and may have factored into their decision to not insure the sleds or at least not carry full coverage. The rationale I hear about only carrying liability on your sled because in the long run, the additional money you spend on the insurance could typically cover any damage to the sled, does not take into account your sled being stolened. At that point, you have nothing to work with and have to re-invest.
