HI guys,

The bolt on the left side of my sled that holds the headlight on (there is a bolt on left and right side that you take out to take airbox out) is stripped. When I was trying to put it back in - it just spins and spins. It wont tighten and it wont come out again. I have tried everything to get it out - any ideas? I am hoping the dealer can get it out. It looks like the threads it screws into are a little clip so I can replace the clip and bolt and be good to go.

Thanks!

Mark

If your lucky its just stripped. Maybe it just has to be squeezed tighter so it wont spin. It kinda sounds like the plastic where the spring clip mounts to on the headlight assembly could be broken. I could be wrong though. This happened on my 07 Apex and I had to replace the headlight assembly. Luckily my dealer replaced it under warranty.

You could hold it with a pliers or something while your turning the bolt out?? Once you do get the bolt out, check over your headlight and make sure thats theres no cracks in the plastic. Thats what I had to do. But, be careful because the plastic is very fragile. If thats all that is wrong with just buy a new spring clip and bolt and you should be good to go.

Good luck.

My little plastic tab also snapped off the headlight housing. I ended up just pulling the clip off and using a standard nut/bolt combo. If you can see the bolt is turning and the clip is sitting still, it is probably shot, the bolt or the clip. I would try using a pair of pliers to turn the bolt (counter-clockwise)and pull out at the same time to see if you can get the bolt to come out. If the bolt is stripped, re-thread it. If the clip is stripped, you can try chaing the threads or just replace it with a 1/4 nut/bolt combo, as I did.

So funny to read this. 2 days ago I did the same thing! I put it back in place and JB welded it. It tightened up nicely, and will know soon enough if it holds. Good luck!

Mine was cracked off. I tried JB Weld but it broke again shortly after. I purchased some Devcon Plastic Welder yesterday. It is supposed to be extremely strong for plastics. I will give it a try.

I had the same problem last winter and I got it out using needle nose pliers and my socket. I just put the needle nose behind the bolt head and applied out ward pressure while turning it out it worked good for me then I just replaced it with a regular bolt and nut. Good luck, Gene.

I noticed that my headlight pod moved back and forth way too easily today. I brought it into the garage and found that the two bolts, one on each side of the machine were lose. Guess we have to watch these little devils. I can't stand the pod design of this headlight. When everything is tight the damn thing still has way too much flex in it. What gives?

Dealer Fixed

I took my sled to the dealer yesterday and they were able to get the bolt out and get it fixed! Yea!!!! :-o
