I just installed a fresh set of sliders on my 06 Apex. The slides wanting to de-rail at the tip. I installed the hold down bolt and was pulling the slider down to the rail and you guessed it. The threads stripped. So I'm sure I'm not the first to do this. Looking for suggestions. What is the recommended fix for this issue? Tap new treads for a bigger bolt??

I would modify the rail to set it up like this.

The Apex does not have an opening for a nut. This does look like a good option. I would need to cut a section out of the side of the rail. Anyone do that on one of these slides? Any issues with weakening the rail at that point?

Just drill a hole and use a file to square off the section where the bolt will seat. No worries about weakening the rail at the tip as it's not a high stress area.

Oh yeah, you're not the first, and likely not the last.

X2!

X3,4,5, and 6. I've done this on 4 of my sleds. Makes it much easier to do this job!

WOW... that's why I love this site. Thanks much guys. I'm heading back out to the garage now.

Thanks mooseman, I was looking for that post to reference but was unable to find it.

Great link Mooseman. I hope the pictures come through. Some very good fixes.

Found out from Rockerdan that the host site has died and pics are gone. Gimme a bit of time. I might resurrect the dead...

Edit: Forget about it. Tried to get the pics using the Wayback machine and they didn't have the pics on the host. That's why I hate offsite photo storage. Here today, gone tomorrow :o|
