I'm seeing more people stud with doubles on the outside belt and am considering it when installing a new storm track. I put together a pattern and curious what others think. It is 4/2/4 with all doubles inside and out. Here is a link to the doc: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1XFRMq-3-G6Oz4zSPELkcj1DYAS08wI02SGjTy7TnQn8/edit?usp=sharing

It would be similar to this one, but not 192.

Doubtful, you never want to run all the studs in the same lines like that being that close together, big mistake, its about traction lines and positioning the studs as not to have studs fall into the same lines if its spinning and/or pulling the track some.

I run doubles and singles on the outside and thinking about removing all of the outsides, or maybe at least the singles in my case, just too much traction and does not like to turn well on the trails.

I've had great luck with singles in every other outside lug....just never thought of using doubles as there doesn't seem to be the space for a new scratch line that's not so close to the last one.

Lot’s of discussions and thoughts on studs and patterns on this site.
Have read and read and read some more whereas I just bought a stock 1.25 track for my sled this for coming season, and of course want to do the best all around for both longevity and traction.

I chose Woodys Gold Digger, 144 @ 1.325 center only, using the 4-2-4 pattern with double and single backers.
The 1.325 allow for 5/16” average penetration on this brand new application. I’m sure after a bit of mileage on them the tips will wear a bit and maybe lessen that penetration number. Finally going to be able to get some top end numbers on ice hopefully!!

Yeah I wasn't looking for the ol outside vs. inside debate. I'm fine running studs in the outer belt as I have not had an issues but I know many have opinions on that topic.

Thanks for the replies. Knapp was one I knew running doubles on the outside so interesting that it may be too much traction for a trail sled. I don't want to kill the handling, so maybe I'll stick with the center to start.

This is my exact set up but with megabites studs!! I found it worked really well last season!!
I just bought the biteharder stud sharpener and going to sharpen my studs this week

Definitely put them on the outside you wont regret it,just use singles and vary them 1/8" for as many scratch lines as possible keeping them at least 1/2" from the outsides of the track you'll notice a big difference on the trail vs center only
