Stud Qty/Pattern Question

I don't think so. Spreading them out increases the stress on them, they'd be stronger the closer together they are.

This pattern gives you 12 scratch lines also. The same number of lines that Woody's says their individual 96 pattern has.

Maybe I try that I was going to run 144 up my vector with the single double pattern, But may be I should try the 96 first. How would 96 be with the 6 inch dolleys?

I just ordered a track from shadetree called a shotgun. New for this year and it is made by kimpax. They have 96 studs already formed in the track and said the way they are layed out will work great with the power of the new apex. All the holes are already knoked out for anti ratchet drivers also.

I’m running the double backers in a 4-2 configuration. (2 double backers every second bar and 2 single in between all up the centre belt). I think I’ll do the same for the Apex since it worked very well for my RX-1. I was thinking on going 192 with all double backers, but I think that will be to much rotating weight.

What sre double backers? Why do you use them?

Bob

here is a pic...

the double backers give the stud more support and weigh slightly less then 2 single backers. If the stud fails, it usually breaks off instead of getting a pull through. You can also get more scratch lines when studding up the centre belt of the track.

Thats a nice job keep info coming this is 1st I am setting up new from scratch. All other sleds have been used and went with set up as they were. Sold on double backers! I was thinking 96 I like a little slip around corners for Apex GT

I had 144 in my 03 rx-1. I bought a 06 apex er. I want to get rid of some of the rotating mass. I am debating over 96 and 120 down the middle. doo warranties their track for a year on the mach z, 96 down the middle. I am going to look at that pattern.
