I'm in the process of installing a MCXpress rear mount turbo in my '03 RX-1. MCXpress states this kit was not intended to be used on a studded sled. I have a 136", 1.25" ripsaw with 168 1.375" StudBoy Powerpoints in it. Will I have any problems with studs hitting the p2-tube? Have you guys made new/changes to tunnell protection to prevent studs from hitting the p2-tube?

Could not find any info searcing. Not even google did come up with any useful information.

I already know that, that's why I'm asking this question. It's not an option to send it back.

Anyone who have some useful info please post. Anyway, I'm working on it making the stock protectors fit. If I can make it work I'll post the results.

I am sure someone are running a '03 or '04 rx-1 or warrior with a 1.25" ripsaw with 1.375" studs in it. Please respond.

I damaged mine when I first installed the kit. Had to add 1/4 inch to the tunnel protectors and it was still hitting the exaust at the two into one joint. Best solution is to sell the 1.25 ripsaw and get yourself a six pitch 1"9838 fully clipped camo sneaker, or your preferred equivelent. That will eliminate any grey area. Generally with the extra tunnel protection you should be ok. But when you open it up on the lake into the 100 mph and up range that is when your track starts to balloon. Thats were you will run into that situation. ;)!
Wish I would have known that them. It would have saved myself a bit a aggrevation. Instead of trying to solve the sled problems I would have bought the track instead. :o|

Just a question, but with the rear mount, does the tube sit further down than stock or something? Just trying to understand what is going on here.

Just take a old hifax cut-rip one lip off the side and rivet to the stock tunnel protectors. Worked on mine.

On the 2003-2005 MCXpress rear mount turbo kit you are supposed to remove the left tunnell protector to make space for the charge tube between turbo and intercooler. Then there is nothing on the left side to keep track and studs hitting the piping below.

I came up with a solution that should work. I made some spacers about 7 mm thick and placed them between the tunnel protector mounting and the tunnell, lowering the protectors 7 mm. Now I was able to reinstall the left protector below the charge tube. Tunnell protector is 20 mm thick and studs is 10 mm higher than track. Stud to pipe clearance is 10 mm. Could this be enough? I hope so.

Sledheadgeorge - Thanks for the tip, but I just bougt a new track and put a lot of work and money into it, track clips and studs. If I had known this before I would have bougth a 1" ripsaw instead.

1crazysledder - The stock exhaust piping is a 2 tube design. MCXpress uses a 4-2-1 design, thus making the single pipe running to the turbo a little larger in diameter than the stock dual pipes, so the problem starts.... never seems to be enough space....

Skydog - Thanks for the hifax advice, lucky me I did not throw away the old sliders last time I changed. I will install them.
