I"m studding my apex for the first time, 144 down the middle, Do i also need tunnel protectors? thanks

they are standard on apex,didnt you look?
do not stud in EXACT MIDDLE of track,you will kill your shock EYE fast....be aware of where shock is.

Get the woody's template and use that in the 144 pattern.

i agree.....templates make life easier studding...most patterns keep the studs away from exact middle(where shock lives)
i use alittle "white out" to make white markings on the track prior to drilling,just to be certain pattern works out at the end before drilling.
also,i recommend gold diggers....always have had best life,and best penetration with GDs.
