WHO CAN TELL ME MAX LEANGTH FOR STUDS ON APEX GT
WOODYS SAYS 1.325 IS RECOMENDED BUT THE TOTAL STICK UP IS NOT AT THE MAX CAN I USE THE 1.450

I went with 144 1.325 woody's up the middle on my GT. the hookup is good. I think the 1.45's would be too long.

I went 144 1.375 w/angled backers (double&sigle backers mix) all up the middle. me and the guys wached while my son & nephew put them in.
we took the rtx out after and I let the doo & cat guys try it out. It DEFINITELY made an impression on them! we are dragin' 2morrow at a friends track which was an old runway for small planes so we'll see how it does.
Should be a few F-7'S & doo 8x's there(the 2 '05 mach Z's are being modified and are tore apart). wil;l try to get a few camera pics or some videos.
below is nephew & son studding my sled A friends Ski-Doo garage (friend is a dooholic and has his own shop).

I can tell ya if you race right out of the gate it will not rev over 9300 with stock set up,the way you picked it up,now you can clutch around this, but until you get 20-30 miles of wot bursts to seat the rings it will not rev up,so dont run them until you get at least a few miles on,and it will bog a little at first, that goes away to,i now have over 200 and it rips all stock,it will even go to 11,000 rpms on a very long haul, over 120 speedo.. :tg:

can any body tell me if i can run woody's megabites at 1.450 leangth without any mods or risks ?
woody's recomends 1.325's
if you do the math the stick up on a ripsaw track and the 1.325 stud the stick up is around .308 ..based on measuring the track and lug hgt with a vernier.
I.E....the total hgt including the lug is 1.45" ( 37mm ) minus the belt thkns at .236" ( 6mm ) leaves you a 1.2 "lug hgt .....minus stud lngth = stick up per woody's
this is below the recomended .375 stick up for agresive trail riding.
using the same stack up numbers and the 1.450 megabite the stick up is .405 slightly longer then recomended by 30 thow (.030" not much !)
one or two passes through the gas station parking lot and that is gone

YOU CANNOT RUN A STUD OVER 1.40... ITS THE VERY LONGEST YOU CAN RUN!

Does that answer your question..

YOu can run 1.325 or 1.375 very safely!

WITH ALL DUE RESPECT..........WHY MAX 1.40 ? WHAT IS THE ISSUE OF CLEARANCE FOR .050 " (THATS LESS THAN 1/16 OF AN INCH )
OR IAM I MISSING SOMETHING.??
WHAT IS THE TIGHT SPOT ?
IN OTHER AREAS OF THIS WEB SITE I READ THAT SOME GUYS ARE NOT HAPPY WITH 1.325's AS THE INSTALLED HGT STICK UP IS MINIMAL ??
PLEASE LET ME KNOW WHAT SOMEONES EXPERIENCE IS WITH THIS
THANK YOU

You wanted to know what size you can run safely...

I ran 1.375 studs in my rx warrior last year and under full speed runs with track slightly loose they hit the sheild below the exhaust!

1.325s are plently long... and should work perfectly.. You only need studs for traction on ice... In deap snow the studs do nothing..

Hey if you want to run 1.450 studs than go ahead.. but if they hit,,, i will say ( I TOLD YA SO)

THANK YOU FOR THE FEED BACK ON THE TIGHT SPOT
as i was looking under the gt, it appeard that the shield was the worst case condition for clearance. i think that a 1/8 th inch thick piece of alum
rvt'd on to the tnl protector would insure proper clearance

ps i run on alot of hard pack in the lower michigan trail systems not deep snow.

current sled 06 apex gt ........getin her ready
97 sx 600 w/ohlins, custom valved max perf long trvl susp, new oem srx track w/168 1.075's .clutched and all max performance add ons possible ...still love the way that sled handles.
2000 sxr 500 w/144 1.075s
1999 sx 500 w 120
1997 xtc 500 w 120
4 place inclosed avenger trailer
2000 chev 3500 4x4 crew cab.............and can no longer afford the fuel bill for all !!!!!!!!!!!

your right mnmsnowblast, I didn't hit 10k until the end of the afternoon 7 that was my son which is only 130lbs. we started with 20 miles on sled an finished up with 70. so it was a 50 mile day of just running across the field.
never really felt any bog, only a modded f-7 had more top end(2mph)
with more suspension setup for better consistant starts, it should have no problems at all with any other stock sled except maybe a mach z.
