Studs caught snow flap, what did I break?

Backing out of the shed, getting ready for the first ride in 2 years, I gave it a good blip on the throttle to drag it off the wood floor and as I backed into the snow the flap got pulled under by the studs. This stopped the machine very abruptly, fully compressed the suspension, and bend down the rear bumper tubes holding the flap. I straightened the tubular frame back up but am now unable to move the machine either forward or back, seems like the track is locked up.

I didn't get much chance to look into it yet but am wondering if anyone has had this happen or knows where to look for an issue.
Is it possible I broke something in that chaincase? If so what is most likely to break? Or is it more likely something is just jammed? I imagine getting into that chaincase is a pretty big job.

The sled, a 2008, is at another location 4 hours away so I would like to be prepared for whatever I need to do to fix this so any advice is greatly appreciated.

TIA,
Steve.

When you say 'seems like the track is locked up' what is that based on. Or was it not going into gear?

I'd be lifting up the rear and seeing if the track is free. See if you can turn the secondary. Likely the belt is not at rest at the top.

I seem to be able to get it into gear but then if I try to go either direction it just smokes the belt on the clutch. I was not able to move the secondary by hand or move the track by hand, nor did it move when I dragged it back into the shed with a winch. I did not really investigate the problem to deeply yet and was thinking something failed in the reverse gear chain area. Is it possible to be something simpler like the cogs on the drive wheels popped out of the holes so now the track is just too tight? I should have looked at that but seems like a "hopeful" long shot.

Sliders might have got hot & melted to the track

I finally got back upstate and started pulling the sled apart. Everything under the chaincase looks fine and it appears I broke something in the reverse gearbox. In testing, with chain removed, I can move the track easily. I cannot move the secondary by hand either direction. I removed belt I activated reverse and with moving the shafts by hand I could then spin the left side shaft freely back and forth but right side output shaft is still locked. Putting it back into forward then both shafts still locked.

So I need to buy a complete (ebay) reverse gearbox or to order all the OEM parts I may need to have them with me when I go back upstate.

Any suggestions on which model years and sleds have compatible gearboxes as I see some venture gearboxes on ebay when I search. Or am I better off repairing gearbox? I do see some other year Phazer gearboxes on ebay and some say they are compatible with multiple years but others only list the single model year.

Or what parts most likely broke so I can order. I figure the little chain, fork, gasket but not sure what else. If anyone had similar problem and can tell me what was broken that could save me some cash?

TIA,
Steve.

All years Phazers reverse gearboxes will work. Venture Lite/MP will NOT work as it has a different secondary shaft.

Repairing it with new parts would be VERY expensive. Check with Barn of Parts. He deals with a lot of Yammy sled parts and may have a used box.

Ok, thanks, that helps a lot!
