Hey guys, either my computer sucks or the search on here isn't working right! Please excuse me if this question has been asked before. I have an 07 attack and I am wondering how many studs you recommend installing in the rip saw track. Also, what length, brand, backer etc? I've never riddin on studs with any sled I've ever owned, but had a close call last weekend and am thinking it's about time I get some!

Thanks for the help!

studs

108 down the center and 1.35 is a safe way to go, unless your racing on ice the more and longer.

bmcfadden I got the same sled but 08 and have had 108 up the middle on double backers for roughly 6000km ,just replaced three bent ones and 4 others were missing carbide, not worn just a hole where the carbide was, talked to woody's and they were gonna replace them but I just bought new ones at royal.held up well ,I assume you'll be running in the same conditions as me.

Thanks hellflyer. What pattern did you use with the double backers? I was planning on going with 108 up the middle as well since I've never used them before and in sure it will take some getting use to the ride. I guess I've never used them because Of the damage they can cause when they're thrown, trailer floor, garage floor, driveway etc!! What pattern would you recommend for single studs 2-per bar?

Thanks for the help

Same here on the reasons for not using them, but the 2nd year I had the sled it was really icy up north so I went for it. Not at all a problem with them.Just keep the track tension good and all is well.Even helped with cooling on georgian bay when the snow really hard on them cold spring mornings. My pattern is kind of my own I guess, started in the middle in one bar then move the next pair over a 1/4"and the next pair over the other way 1/4"from the first one and so on untill I got 1"from the window then started over .can't even tell there on there at any speed or condition.

I used"the woody's 1.325" signature series stainless at $1.54 at royal and the stud boy doublers.I think the doublers are the reason Ididn't rip any through the track, the ones I replaced were bent bad.

I was just talking a with a buddy who ecommrnds doing 108 up the middle using doubles on every other bar and none on the bars in between. He said doubles are stronger and less likely to rip out when torqued properly. Also leaves every other bar empty in case I want to add more later. What do you think of that?

I ran Woody's Gold Diggers 1.325 @162 up the middle there application chart recommends. Doubles with Singles. No problems yet.
If you have a rear cooler you'll have to add 1 1/2 in of protection over it or sooner or later you'll hit it.

I wouldn't leave a bar open ,My riding buddy has the exact sled as you with two sets of doubles on every second bar and it sounds/feels like your riding a freakin freight train on hard packed ,I think it has bad balance when it come over the drive wheels with more weight on every second bar. Here's a pic of mine with 10000k ,6000k with these studs.

Just be sure you have proper tunnel protectors in especially if you have a rear cooler addedto your attak. Search me as author as I had issues with studs hitting the rear cooler.

I decided to go with an IceRipper XT track & after 2 full seasons I still love it. No worries about stud damage yet have the safety I want on icy trails. Now if you want to drag race on ice, it is no match for studs!
