I was just wondering why the stainless steel studs are cheaper, you would think they would cost more.Is there any disavantage to them?wooodys stainless are running about 1/2 of what the woodeys gold diggers are.

I'd stick with the Gold Diggers. A friend of mine used stainless studs last season and broke several.

It has nothing to do with the material used rather the manufacturing cost. Those stainless Woodies have much less machining compared to the Gold Diggers, hence the lower price. Look at the base of the Gold digger and you'll see that it's cupped to the hold onto the track where the SS stud is flat. With that being said, I like the SS because they stay corosion free. I've run both and the only differences I have noticed is no corosion with SS. On the same token, first blast on the sled and any stud looks new again. I myself am patiently waiting for SS Megabites

I'm going with the woody's SS on my APEX. I used them last year when I put a 136" track on my 03, they held up great. Also my friend used them on his 03 with 0 problems. I'm going to try the tower nuts, they are supposed to give more support for the taller studs on a 1.25 track.
I had tried using SS from fast-trac on my girlfriends 04 rx-1 and those things were a friggin nightmare! They were supposed to be stainless but in reality they looked zinc coated, and every lock nut crossthreaded. I spent more time running a thread die down each stud then I care to remember.

Stay as far away from stailess steeel studs as possible. I usual use Roetins and no one had them last year. So I tryied Stainless Steel.
What a Bad move. They got so beat up so quick that fact that they didn't rust wasn't worth it.

I have used the SS Extreem Max studs, I got them at the Toronto sno show.
I have 2 years on mine and 2 yeasons on my g/fs .
Only had one bend in two years, and it was on mine.
No rusty looks, long wearing and install was simple.
I would buy a second time if I needed more.
I have engough to do my RTX when it comes in, just unsure of how many I want.
I ran 96 down the center on a ripsaw on a 04 Rev 800 HO.
With the Apex Im thinking 120-144 at most.

SS is actually SOFTER than regular steel. Ever notice that SS bolts are much easier to break?
actually ss is harder, it has less ductility than normal hot roll steel giving stainless less ability to bend without breaking.

Try this; go to home depot, buy a 1/4" ss bolt and a 1/4" galvanized bolt. See which is easier to bend.
Nickel is soft, hence SS is soft.

Well, I just ordered SS studs. As long as they don't pull through I'll be happy.

I used Studboy
In all instances Stainless isn't softer. When we were building Turbo headers we had some cheap mild steel for mock up purposes. When we went a quality stainless product it was 10 times harder to cut compared to the mild steel.
My guess is if they used a higher quality Stainless steel it would hold up better.

Are Stainless fasteners all the same grade?

I don't think they are. I know both Woodys and Studboy has 2 different Stainless studs they sell. One is real cheap and one is super pricey.
I actually bought the pricey ones and they still sucked!!!
