can someone point me to spark plug change info..first time and dont want to screw something up
thx

Remove the hood..

Loosen the 4 screws holding the Cowl on!

Remove the two bolt holding the headlight pod on and unplug the wiring while removing the pod!

Unplug the Cowl and remove that also.

Remove the 4 bolts holding the Coils in the cylinder head!

Remove the bolt from the Secondary overflow tank and twist it and set it to the side (you dont need to unhook it completely)

Unplug and Remove the coils

Remove the plugs..

Reverse for install!

Thanks Welt. I planned on doing this during my first oil change at 40 miles and go to CJ10EK's and Silerstars all at once.

that's what I thought (new) but didnt want to be an a** and screw something up...thanks
trying the denso's cr10ek equiv's

DONE....g-d help you if you foul a plug at 0 deg on the trail!

wait...that's two stroke...that's why we went fourstroke...right!

Not sure if this was ever mentioned but...

I never took mine apart yet, but im wondering if the sparkplugs are way down from the top of the engine, requiring like an extension on your ratchet to reach the plugs all the way down.

Is this the case when changing plugs on the Apex/Attak?

Sorry sj, I hope im not highjacking your thread!

no...good question...they area good 5-6" down....I used a 1/4 drive extension..with a 1/4 to 1/2 drive converter for the plug socket...worked great...but when the plug soket got wedged down in there and the extension kept pulling out..I got a little frustrated.. :o|

You'll want an extension regardless just so that your wrench isn't burried in the motor compartment when your trying to turn it. If your asking the question to plan for trail side change, I wouldn't worry about it. The tool kit in the sled will work if on the off chance you should need to, Again very unlikely.

Do they check the plugs at the 500 svc? May be a good time to switch to the CJ10EK's?
