So I'm finally going to buy a new sled and I'm having a really hard time choosing between these two sleds. I'm 90% on trail rider coming off an 07 Apex RTX. I could never get the APEX RTX rear suspension the way I wanted it, despite having it revalved and installing softer springs. So my rational answer is ... Get a new sled with a softer rear suspension! The Viper would be a downgrade in power... So Sidewinder it is! I like to go fast, and I like to ride aggressive from time to time. I love to rail the corners. My gut says for almost the same money between the two sleds, I should get the LTX -SE since the shocks in the front are adjustable clickers. But then I think i should just get the STX DX and put take off shocks on it later and enjoy the seat heat, and also get the red/black color I really like since the dealer I'm working with has white/blue LTX-SE or the STX-DX Red/black. It looks like I should be able to get fox take offs for about $350 if I go with the STX-DX. However there is the coupled vs uncoupled suspension, and track lug length. I don't know if I'll notice the track lug difference. But I don't know about the coupled vs non... Since I can't try them back to back....what are your thoughts given the above info?

The STX will be a softer ride and both sleds are coupled suspensions

I love my STXDX - came from Apex shorty to a Viper and I miss the power/speed and sound but with the Sidewinder you will have all but the sound.
I would LOVE the winder in a STX DX

LTX is coupled. It's the XTX that is not.

The STX DX looks great in Black. I'd do that with the shock upgrade.

Thanks for the correction, the dealer was trying to push me into the XTX so I would have the shock package I wanted... And sell me a more expensive ride I'm sure ! I felt this sled looked to much like an off trail sled... As I said I rarely go off trail, which was also a factor of the Apex sinking!

Thanks for the input! I agree.. My eyes say just go with the STX-DX in black/red. But then I think, will I kick myself for not having the ability to tweak my ride to get the handling I want in the first month of ownership ? (granted I can upgrade shocks in the future). My brain says dollar wise a heated seat and tall windshield are nothing compared to having upgraded shocks in the front...

The xtx 141 would be a down grade in shocks compared to the STX Dx

I understand the DX may be a better shock, I was speaking from an adjustability standpoint. I can't wrap my head around having no adjestment for compression or rebound. I wish they had some sort of clicker settings to tailor the ride to your liking. The xtx 141 would be a down grade in shocks compared to the STX Dx

Don't forget when we talked today at MOMS the xtx dx vrs the ltx dx there are much taller lugs on the xtx 1.6 vrs 1.25 if you want to stud, forget the xtx,so my feeling from talking to you, would be the ltx-se what my son got,or the ltx-dx not the xtx dx. beast.I understand the DX may be a better shock, I was speaking from an adjustability standpoint. I totally get that, for me it was the STX Dx vs the XTX Le 137. The STX had a windshield and saddle bags, the xtx Le 137 has QS3 shocks and basically no windshield , well the QS3 shocks won out in the end and that's the sled I chose. Now I wait for windshield on back orderI understand the DX may be a better shock, I was speaking from an adjustability standpoint. Windshield is minor... Good choice for your riding style the xtx Le... Enjoy and oh ya the Sidewinder sings a pretty darn good song at 7500 rpm. (Keeped the rpm down for break in) Maybe not an 4cyl but it made me sing along in my helmut pretty darn loud, it sort went like this.... OH MY GOD THIS F'ING THING IS AMAZING !!!!

The ltx.. and xtx.... geared the same 21/41 but drivers are different size. Xtx is 10 mph slower on top end. I switched my xtx order to a ltx because of this....

Snowbeast, you were a huge help to me today! Thanks for your insight. I took the XTX sled off my list after talking with you. I put a deposit on the LTX -SE, but have till Monday to make the final decision between the LTX-SE and the LTX-DX. I'm leaning hard towards the DX like we talked about. I only put the deposit on the SE because its at the other store and this leaves the option open for me to choose between them till Monday.

I came off of a Viper LTX-DX and bought the Orange & Black LTX-SE....juts because of the color.
If the DX has those colors, I would've bought it, but I can add the Windy and Heated Seat to the SE.
