subframe ideas

I had a slight bend in the lower A arm after my mishap, so I don't think the A arm is too strong either.

Something is GOOFY cause how can we go jump these machinces and ride nice drifts and everything is fine. And then along comes a rut or putting your sled on or off a trailer or even a lower speed impact bends these subframes or lower a-arms. I understand there will always be a weak point, but that weak point should be able to take a higher impact than, what is happening to most of us out there. Just my 2 cents again. And one more thing PLEASE :letsnow:

I agree.

just week

the sub frame them selves are to week if you look at the bolts that are attached to the sbfram and the bulkhead they have it looks like fifty washers they do that to break awy so you dont shear the engine brackets
the subframes them selves just need to b reinforced cuz they bend way to easy. i no wen i bent mine i was humming rite along and hit a frozing chunk of dirt i felt it big time and wen i stopped sure as #*$&@ the right ski
was sitting back about an inch.
the point is if that was stronger "subframe" it would not have dun any damage any ware else whaT i see in those pics is what im going to do to mine but im going to do it at all the a arm brackets..
just make sure you dont put a plate that will be in the way of sumthing and remove it befor welding so that u dont burn up your electronics just removing t6he battery cables is not good enough.
dont waist money on aftermarket take it to sumone who nos how to tig weld if you want this summer take it off and send it to me i will post pics of mine wen dun

Take your mittens off.

I will be doing mine before i put it in . I looked at diamond s but doesn't look any stronger i know its titanium but it looks stock to me it's not reinforced anywhere . Got a 2010 subframe coming

I'm interested in seeing if they reinforce the sub frame again for '11..

My thought is they have already reinforced this subframe two times in two years. They have done this without fixing the problem.

Now, Yamaha engineers are not stupid.. they may be cheap but not stupid. There must be a reason they never completely alleviated the problem.

and on the note i have to shovel snow...

Out of curiosity where is the website for diamond s

Bent

You know guys, when my ski (right) was an inch or so bent back, I saw no difference in handling on my sled, in fact with the installation of some good aftermarket skis, it handled better than ever. There is more inches of ski on the ground when turning. Just a thought. I think these things are just finding their "happy place".

...perhaps for a while, then it keeps bending until your shock rubs against the upper A arm, causing more damage.

sorry i was in a hurry,

they cant bend any farther back becuase the top a arm rubs against the sub frame.. if you bend it hard enough for the shock to rub the a arm
i think you will wont b able to ride it. today i tried to pull the a arm back where it belongs i chained the rear and hooked a small winch on it but no luck. tommarow i'm gonna use a porta power and maybe sum heat

i would like to see pics of bent sub frames

start a new post?? maybe?
