I have never failed by using small vise-grips to break the stripped ones loose. Also - replace with caps screws once you get them out, I do on all of my vehicles.

Tap the screws lightly with a screwdriver and a hammer, then do as bdm says, works every time.

Seeing how the heads are stripped anyways, a very sharp cold chisel and a good tap along the edge will break them loose. Little needle nose vise grips also work well. Watch the O Rings when you are taking them apart as they tend to stick to the cap on some and are a real P.I.T.A.
You might want to replace them with Allen Head Socket Capscrews as those really work well. I can't remember exactely what size they were on my 04 Warrior but I think they were M4 x 0.7 x 12mm or M5 x 0.8 x 12mm. If you do a search I'm sure there is something on this.

thanks guys. i ended up cutting a groove in the head with my dremel and made them into regular flat blade screws.

A tip I learned a long time ago, when you have a phillips type screw that wants to strip. Take a small amount of valve lapping compound on the end of your screw driver, then put it in the screw to remove. The compound helps "grip" the screw. I have removed a lot of screws this way.
