Summertime Mods...................................

Thanks J, my camera is still at work so this works great. I will be rebending the angle on the top bend another 10-20 degrees to lower the gauge pod a bit to give me a little better access to the mountain bar.

On my MSRX I had my EGT gauge mounted in the handle bar pad and loved it. I finally feel like the gauge is where it should be.

Almost done!

Got some more work done on it... now just need the tie rods from timbersleds (sent wrong size w/ the kit) and a throttle cable extender, and can get it buttoned up!

Summary of changes:
* under tunnel exhaust
* Hartman extension
* BOSS seat
* M7 153 skid (anti stab wheels), used VanAmburg drop brackets and Fabcraft wheels
* 162 x 15 Challenger track (3" pitch Avid drivers)
* wildchild rider forward (with another 2" riser)
* Barkbuster front end w/ fox floats
* Hartman clutching w/ TEAM secondary

Now I just need to sell my first born and then for it to be 12/18 for my trip to Cooke!

nomad congrats on getting things put together, looks good

i've had my newly converted rx1 out a few times this past week in cooke and hopefully i'm in the final stages of tuning. the sled works pretty well and the snow was awesome for this time of year.

i've got a shockwave and lower gearing on the way to get the rpms up. not sure where you're coming in from but the shockwave helix sounds like a real good investment.

if i'm around during your trip out to cooke we should ride and go over sleds. goodluck

I'm still making a serious attempt at getting up there from Billings on the 22nd.

Jim... if you make it there on the 22nd, you'd probably end up costing me another $6K. ;)! Would love to pull the trigger on a well set up sc RX1. (rode a sc apex very briefly in the Snowies... the fuel mapping was off which I think greatly effected the performance and it STILL was a handful!!!) As the time gets closer, keep us in the loop on if you think you can make it. We'll be heading back home that afternoon/evening (of the 22nd), but plan on riding most of the day on Saturday. Assuming of course that our sleds are still in running order... :drink: :)

Well, the last bit of work on the 3/4 ton (down from a 1 ton) was done by my buddy BIGGDAWG last night and he sent me pics. All in all, I think I'm down 90+ pounds from stock. Now just can't wait to get it in some powder/on some hills and see what it does!

Rod; boost of any type would be the best $6000 spent. :Rockon: I should have said "no" when offered to take the Nytro MTX for a spin last weekend. I won't know for sure if I'm off or working on the 22nd until a week prior. If I do have it off; I will probably roll into town by 8:00AM at the latest (usually leave Billings @ 4:00AM).

Jim, what were your impressions from riding the Nytro MTX? I too have been considering moving on to something new.

Thanks

Frosty

The Nytro is a sweet handeling sled. It's real easy to carve and sidehill. I almost threw it over on its uphill side when pulling it up on edge. The clutching was lacking as mentioned (backshift was poor).

The APEX just didn't have enough improvements to make me want to get rid of the lightened/modded RX-1mtn (even before I got the SC). I can honestly say the Nytro MTX is the first new sled from Yamaha that would make me update from the '03 RX-1mtn. If I had the money to buy one, throw a SC on it and a 162" track; I'd definately bite the bullet.

just witnessed a buddy test drive a new summit xp and before the end of the week he had one... i'm sure the nytro has the same apeal

good chance i'll be able to make 12/22 in cooke it'd be sweet to check out a few well setup rx1s. but don't want to shoulder in on your trip west, let us know, sounds like jim may know his way around cooke??

which handguards did you use? and do you have a lefty throttle? i tried to install the powermadds but there was no room with the lefty.

Frosty has the Sportech Speedgaurds. It looks like he had to do the same as me and put a twist in them because they are after the bend. You might have to do this with the Powermadds as well.

I now use the Fly Aerotaper Mountain Bars which have 0" of rise with a 10 degree sweep back. They had plenty of room. I might still have my old Sportech arms with the twist allready added that I used with my stock '03 Bars. I'll see if I can find them if you want them. As of right now it looks like I'm off on the 22nd so I'll probably make the drive to Cooke from Billings. If you can wait until then; the preice will be right (free).

Well I just got done ordering the straight angled helix from Shockwave Performance for the SCRX-1mtn. Now I'll have something to play with on the hill next time out.

Jim

Rod, I PM'd Bruce over on the SW forum. It looks like Tura and I will be getting up there earlier than expected. We'll be staying across the street from you guys Thurs and Fri. returning home after riding on Sat. Freelheeler said he will be coming up Sat. AM. I told him to meet us at the Sinclair. That makes it 3 RX-1s in various states of tune and at least 2 RMK 900s.

Jim

WOO-HOOO!!!

Cool on the being there earlier (though not so cool re: why, the bastages :die ). Will be good to see you/Tura again! :Rockon: Think snow!!!!
