He's talking about the reason why wewill be there earlier. The "boss" (my wife Tura) got fired for being sick too many times without even getting written up or a suspension first. Rod knew this from a PM and that's why you see the odd looking post LOL

Thanks Jim. No wonder I was confused.
We can't wait to hear about your trip to Cooke.
Hey, do you guys know Zane Logan? He has a cabin on Colter Pass. His wife is my wife's cousin and I have stayed at his cabin and ridden several times.
He is /was a Yamaha guy but he's not the largest of guys and the supercharged Apex was just too big and heavy of a machine for him. I think he might be on Skidoos now. He really does bleed blue though. Anyway, he's a great guy. If you know him please say hi for me.

We'll be staying across the street from you guys Thurs and Fri. returning home after riding on Sat. Freelheeler said he will be coming up Sat. AM. I told him to meet us at the Sinclair. That makes it 3 RX-1s in various states of tune and at least 2 RMK 900s.
Jim
I'll be there on Friday the 21 and maybe the 20th if cooke gets dumped on!! there calling for a bit of snow this week and storms toward the end of the week!!! i may have a few other folks interested an XP, summit and MM700?
this post may be enough to scare a fews folks out of the hills of cooke, "3 rx1's in various states of tune, will dig big holes!" we're also looking for a few strong backs and maybe a snow bunje or two!!
looking foward to the weekend!

Lee, I don't know Zane. The only folks I know outthat way are; Liz and Victor (owner/operators of Skyline Guest Ranch).
As for a report on the riding; I'm sure I'll have some good action pics of the weekend's events. I might have to start up my mileage ride report too.

I hope you guys have a good trip. I may try to head your way closer to spring. I used to always show up in Cooke One President's day weekend. Now, it's McCall or Cooke. How can you go wrong?
Have a great time

Well, we just got back from Cooke City. We got to Cooke Late Thurs and missed the ride that day with Joe and the guys. Went out yesterday with Rod (Nomad), Bruce and Brian. It took us 45 minutes to make it two miles from town thanks to my intercooler blowing off the carbs (3 times
). Finally everything held together and we got into the back country. The snow sucked but visability was good( sorry we couldn't find some good powder Rod).
Here's a couple of pictures of Rod on his sled taken from the video I had. I didn't get any footage of him on my sled or any other footage but did get some practice zooming in and out on the target (seems you need to hit the record button on these things to record any action though).
I'll let Rod describe how his "boost cherry popping" went
.

Boost cherry popping!
Yeah Jim, really bummed about you not finding us any powder. I mean, come on, four feet is all?
WOW, what a day! Perfect visibility and stupid-deep snow, gotta love Cooke!
Re: the boost, hmmm... I think my off-the-cuff response was something along the lines of "this is better than sex!"
After thinking about it, and watching the video of the day and my two rides on it, I think that comment still has to stand!
Amazingly smooth, and even though I know your sled weighs more than mine by probably 30-40 pounds, it felt much much lighter than mine. Then there's the whole "blasting up the hill faster and just going and going farther" thing, way cool...
THANK YOU for letting me give it a whirl and for taking us out, was a great day!
Also thanks to Joe/Freelheeler for riding with us on Thursday... visibility sucked, but snow was awesome, and we ended up with some epic riding (and epic sticks!!!
)

Re: Boost cherry popping!
Rod, it was no problem letting you experience the boost. I forgot to ask though; How did it compare to the APEX you experienced last season? I had a hunch from the "this is better than sex!" when you got back that the APEX must have been WAAAAYYYY OFF with the tuning.
Joe, it was too bad we didn't make it in time on Thurs. Sorry you guys all waited an extra 1/2 hour for us. The Sinclair was closed by the time I got home from work on Wed.; so I wasn't able to have them forward the message that we would be up there later than we hoped.
Did you try your bars without the hooks to see if you get more heat? If so, was my assumption that the APEX hooks are the culprite (robbing the heat from the grips)?
If you get that sled up and running; I'll be back in Cooke the 29th-2nd. We're staying out at the Skyline though. The rst of the group is staying at the Antlers so we'll be meeting up over there after breakfast. I'm pretty sure we would have room for one more rider if you can make it during that time. I'll even let you take the SCRX-1 for a spin f you want. I'll also bring the handgaurd mounts and the BJ Hookers handle bar hooks if you want them (their red though). They look identical to the ones on my wife's RMK (picture attached).

Compare to Apex?
Hey... re: how it compared to the supercharged Apex which I rode, yeah, yours was much better. Remember how I asked if, when on the hill I could hold it to the bar (WOT)? Yeah, well, w/ the boosted Apex which I rode, that was a bad thing.... not cuz of over-boost (I don't think), just from the fuel mapping being off. I.E. on that sled, hammer on it from the stop, or hold it to the bar, and it would pop/stutter... now, in-between, it was pretty impressive with its pull, but I really didn't like how careful I felt I had to be w/ the throttle.
Yours just felt like a very smoothe and well tuned RX1 on steroids.
