Mine does the same thing. I have an RTX. I think it is the clips hitting the slides at slow speeds as the suspension goes through it's travel. I don't know really, I'm just guessing. There really isn't anything else under there that could make such a sound. I would also like to hear from other TYers about this.

The monoshock skid does this, completely normal. I dont know exactly why, possibly the coupling of the front and rear arms.

Mine does the same. I believe it's the limiter strap snapping at low speeds over the bumps. I only hear it (and it is loud) when going slow, as in towns.

There's an idea. It almost seems to sound like metal tho or something. It is hard to tell through the helmet.

this is normal...it is the skid rocking back and forth, the klunking is the weight transfer rod....moving back and forth...

Yes, you are correct sir!
Seriously, I noticed this on the last couple of trips. I think the reason you only hear it at slow speeds is: one obviously the engine sound level is lower, two and more importantly, because of the slower speed the transfer has time to fully extend / retract which results in a clunk as the transfer rod hits the end of it's travel. If it's not the clunking of the transfer rod that you are hearing, you may be talking about the sound of the track clips like 1 Crazy said. This noise I believe comes from multiple places. When I removed the rear suspension last week on my RTX, I had to unbolt the R.A. unit from the side of the sled. The plastic piece that protects the cable from the track had a big groove down the center. This groove from what I can tell is caused by the track clips. More specificly the tip of the side or vertical leg (sorry I can't remember the correct name for that type of clip) anyway, it dosen't seem to be harming anything however I do think that the plastic protector may become a consumable for some. If you put on a couple thousand miles a year I would definently check it out.
Guys with GT's, I haven't looked at one close enough to see how the electric cable is ran but take a look to see if a similar situation is occuring. Again this is not a major thing, I just noticed it and thought to let everyone know. Maybe when replacing HI-Fax take a look at it and go form there.

It is likley what MrSled said but to check for sure just set your transfer all the way to minimum and see if it quiet's down,If it does you have your answer. kviper

If you remove the transfer rod, then move the shaft in and out you'll notice a loud clunking noise. I took mine apart and put in two thick rubber 0-rings on either side of the end of the moveable shaft to cushion it a little. It's pretty obvious what to do if you take yours apart. Rubber washers of some sort would also work. Mine still makes some clunking, but not anything like it used to. Unless you've got something else going on, try this.
