Source I had was fairly credible. Apparently when they built the first viper cat and Yamaha engineers went out for a ride. Cat guys said pretty good and bad 4-5 things they wanted to work on. Yamahas list was close to 150. The seat foam, strengthen suspension rails, fix chaincase issue I believe were the most notable. Then they kept picking away at the list.

And yes the 14-15 vipers rode like lumber wagon for smaller guys. Guys my size not so bad lol.

Wiring connectors also were probably a Yamaha change. Kinda getting off topic here though since the thread is supposed to be whats different. All the changes were eventually moved to the Cats also. Full line. And then the changes stopped. Which is why we still are stuck with crappy driveshafts,Grooved Calipers,Suspension shafts that are weak and gear bushings that have been wearing since 2012 in all of the above. Who is to blame for that?

Cat lists same oil kit for 7000 and 998 Turbo. They both use the same filter and their Cat kits used to come with a Yamaha filter! Don't know if they still do.Had me wondering where Cat has its own brand oils listed for all the 4 strokes engines including the 7000 series from Yamaha but none listed for the 998.

Well yamaha revamped the chaincase and gears for the 14s. If you recall cat had massive issues with chaincases exploding gears and snapping chains. They made some changes (don’t remember what) that allowed oil to get to the bushings and then the drive shaft bearings aswell since those were an issue.

I know he wants what’s completely different from them right now but truth is there’s more yamaha involved in refining the product we have than you can put a finger on.

Looking to develop or find and if necessary create a list of verified parts that have been determined to be Arctic Cat and/or Yamaha.
From reading and conversations I am getting contradictory comments as to which components are who's.
I'll mention a few that appear to be undisputed:
On the Yamaha SW:
Suspension including rear skid - AC
Clutch - Yam.
Engine - Yam
I have some saying chain case is cat - others claim Yam.
If you claim one way or the other how do you know... by observation with a direct comparison looking at both side by side?
What else?
I don't think MrGoFast is asking who designed or influenced the parts, but rather are they different part numbers.
If this is the question then:
Arctic Cat is all AC except the motor.
Yamaha is mostly AC except for:
1. motor
2. clutches & belt
3. jackshaft
4. some panels including hood & windshield
5. skis
6. gears, although they are still AC parts
7. flap

I'm thinking new Stealth controls on 2019 and up were definitely Yamaha influenced. Quality of decals/paint finish also seems to be improving closer to Yamaha quality standards.

Yes the above is what I was trying to find out.
Just trying to validate what certain sales people are claiming about what the differences are and where the value lies in these machines.

BTW: Those parts that are different are still made by AC.
I think only the motor & clutches are "MADE" by Yamaha.
I'm not sure who makes the exhaust & intercooler side, but they are both the same either way.
