Hello fellow TY members,
As some of you probably know I had a sxr 500 01` before. I made a worklog on the other TY forum. I made a few changes to this old sled.
Check it out. http://www.totallyamaha.net/forums/show ... ge=1&pp=10
A bit old, but still great readings for someone who wants to do some changes to their old sled.
This is just a before and after picture.
The last picture shows how it ended before I sold it a few months ago. Still some work left, but when the Nytro came along I knew what to do. (Sorry 2-strokers).
It was a really funny and interesting doing and I'am tempted to do some of the same work to the Nytro i bought last year.
This has been a great winter so far, the nytro is working awsome and the snow conditions has been ok. (Two days ago we got a great snowfall, about 25-35 cm.) I didn't take as much pictures as I wanted this season, but some. I will add a a few of those i took .
Pictures from one of my first trip into the mountains this year to check the snow conditions. Great trip, a little windy but.
This is pictures from a trip with my father and my little brother. Every year we use to set up our tents 50 - 100+ kms into the mountains. We usually set up the tents around one of the tousands waters that the Norwegian mountains consist of. We set up the tents around late end of february and leave it there until the first weekend of May, because this is when the snowmobile tracks are closed in our part of the country. They are mainly closed due to the Sami people's moving of their reindeer from winter graze(right word?) in the mountains to the summer graze with the sea.
Just finished setting up the tent.
My little brother gathering water in the can.
We also took a trip from the tent to look how the work on embankment for a hydroelectric station was going.
You could see where they have let some of the water out leaving the ice on the water to "sink". Could be really dangerous to drive on this ice, but one of the routes has to go over a water like this.
My friend and I just playing around. No pics of me since I was the one with the cam that day.
On top of one of the mountains, pretty long drop for a sled if your tempted.
Yeah, he's sorry for not wearing a helmet. Unfortunately he didn't have the key to his partents house with him, and that's where the helmet was. We where already late so we didn't want to miss this change to ride.
I also made a thowing-hook(Right word?) for my RTX at work.
I will add a few pictures of it, took some welding and grinding before it was done. Happy with the result. Did try to tow 100 - 150 kg with it and it works awsome, both the hook and the Nytro's ability to thow. Did leave one belt pretty messed up so I think it needs some clutching and gearing to work as a thowing sled.
In this pics we where just playing around in the early snow.
The 136" 1.5" 00' sxr 700 didn't manage keep up with the 121" Nytro.
My friend got stuck right above me from where the last picture is taken.
On the way down after a nice climb.
My sister and my father in "the gate".
This picture is taken in a place we call "The Gate". The name is mostly because this is one of few places to get into the mountains from this valley. This big stone stands in the middle of the track, which forces us to drive up in the mountain side to pass it. This can be really tricky with the different snow contidions and especially when your thowing 150 - 200 kg with your sled. The funny thing is; People has tried to blow this stone to pieces using dynamite without luck. Either the drill shuts down and wont start or the dynamite won't go Ka-boom. Some people belive this stone has some sort of power, especially the Sami people, they use to sacrifice money, reindeerbones, etc. Mabye this is the reason it won't blow up? I'am not so sure myself.
This is taken from "The gate" and down the valley. This valley leads to the main valley where I live.
Pics from the last trip to the tents, oh, I forgot to mention that we usally go there every weekend. - And yes, there is alot more tents than just ours.
Northern light for those of you who want to see it - Great to watch, its really alive! Maybe I get you a movie of it sometimes.
My neighbour, dad, cousin and my grandfather relaxing in the tent.
On our way home, just taking a quick stop enyoing the view down the valley. Sorry for not taking a picture of that view.
Don't know what you call this fish, but we call it "Røyje" in Norway. Tastes really good when you roast it over open fire or fry it on the oven at home.
Wellwell, time to look at the damages done this winter
This winter I haven't damaged much beside of my rear bumper. But, my friend has.
+ a frontbumper.
My sled has worn out ball bearings in the frontend(Got new ones on warranty tho) and the upper a-arm is bent a little. Luckily my frame isn't bent. And the rear bumper had to go anyway since I was making a thowing-hook.
I also did some changes to my front end;
# Turned the rubber in the skis around.
# Shaved 2.5mm from the upper a-arm ballbearing, which will give you a negative camber.
Old photos that brings back memories.
Artic cat on fire ! No one got hurt , other than that me and my friend ( Both drive yamaha) enjoyed the show
Pictures from a walk on foot in the mountains above my house. (Illegal to drive here)
This is the small town called Storslett, I live 5.5 km's from the sentrum.
Got a MC-Xpress turbokit for a nytro at work, If your thinking of installing the kit your'self i can't say anything but to do it. Marklund describes pretty well in the included manual how to install it.
Well this is my pictures so far. Sorry for the bad English people hope you understand some of it tho.
More pictures to come soon.

Ah, of course. Seems like I need a refreshment in my old school English
Thanks for enjoying the pictures !
Took a quick spin today, couldn't do any long runs since my right hand got hurt two weeks ago, still hurts when loaded(right word?).
I'd really hope my hand will heal until next weekend since the season walk towards the end now. Heavy wet snow outside now, + 2 - 5 C* in the air.

Actually what you call Røyje we would call Arctic Char. Looks like the fishing and the riding were both good. Your pictures are incredible, that region looks amazing. I would love to travel over there some day.
Question: Why the short track? Dont you ride a lot of deep snow? Just wondering. Great post keep the pics coming.

Hi there countryman great pics. You should have posted over in the TY Fun Ride section as well, those pics are breathtaking. Specially that one high up on that steep mountain, I got dizzy looking at it LOL. Keep em pics coming
Man, you have some scenery and mountains to climb around the Raissa/Reisa valley. When you go turbo I hope you are going to stretch your track to at least 136 inches or 346 centimeters.
Do you still have snow to ride on? I have a few more turbo rides planned for this coming weekend

xsivhp: Thank you! Comments always help on the motivation to post pictures.
phazer35: Oh, Arctic Char? Thanks. I will remember that. Just let me know when
the plane arrives and I'll pick you up
Hmm, yes, I've been wondering about that myself sometimes when
I'am stuck in a hill full of deep snow. Well, the real reason is
because the mtn. had poor shocks, felt instable and because I prefer 345 or 365 centimeters lenght.
Since Yamaha didn't make my model, I decided to go for the short track w/ ok shocks
and potensial to upgrade it to the exhact sled i Want.
rxrider: Hello there! Great to hear from "neighbours" too. TY Fun ride section? Never seen in it, maybe I'll have to take a look there. Thank you.
Been here riding ? Yes, I have a few plans for the Nytro. At least 345, but 365 centimeters would be perfect for my riding.
I did have a little snow at that time yes, but had a lot of work so the sled got an early summer this time.
hondo: Thank you very much!
yamadoo: Thanks!
Here's some late season pics.
Stuck in the water with a venture ain't the best way to begin a trip.
He had a trailer(?) after the venture. I used my nytro to pull it 90 degress sideways and to harder ground.
Lynx ST600 .....
Thowing the Venture ....
A small break before we kept driving to where the tents and the rest of the people were.
They had sausages and warm food ready when we arrived at the camp. What a feeling it is sitting around the campfire late at night in the middle of nomansland.
A pitstop on our way home. Enjoying the great weather we had on the last trip.
Grandfather filling gas on his sled on our way home.
This is what the summer days has gone to. Shining up a 91' Porsche 944 S2 Cabriolet. I will be painting her this week. Sorry for not flipping the picture 90* deg. Didn't see it before now.

Greetings from rxrider - your neighbour out east on the far side of the Finnmarksvidda plains.
sxtheviper - thanks for sharing pics of your beautiful wilderness with us. No, I have not been sledding in your area. The westernmost I have ever gone is Alta some 120 kms or 75 miles away from home. Would have been something riding thru the plains past Guovdageidnu down the Raissa valley to visit you. Keep the pics coming

Greetings my friend !
My pleasure. The Reisa vally has now finally been covered with snow again .
Yes, It wil be quite a long trip from Lakselv to Reisa. But if the weather is on our side it could be an amazing experience.
Picture's,
Does anyone know how to change the name of this tread? I realise I could have picked a much better name for this tread.
Will be adding some pictures as soon as posible from what I've been doing this Autumn & Early winter.
# May the snow be with you!
