Synthectic oil

Your dealer quoted you 2 hours to change oil!!! That way way out of line. It's so easy, you have to take a little pannel of to remove the filter and drain the crankcase oil than remove the right side cover and drain the sump. Check your owners manual and you will see the rest. He is ripping you off! Why not just stick with the yamaha 4S it's good oil and like the others have said the sled will be shot long before the engine.

Oil is like religion to many people, but for the most part, oil is oil. The major difference between them is the effectiveness of their marketing campaign.

Personally, I fail to see any advantage to using Mobil One or any other such aftermarket oil instead of what the owner's manual recommends. One then wouldn't have to worry about warranty issues, post-warranty recall eligibility, starter clutch slippage, all that other stuff. Cost differences are pretty small when we're talking about 1 oil change per year, and the performance issues of Mobil One vs Yamaha's 4S oil are likewise going to be negligible.

I agree with BigMac. I change my oil like it should be done. But really, some of you are taking matters too far. You're treating the sled as if it were to fail if you don't go to extreme measures.

I use Mobile One in all of my vehicles and it has served me well. I like to keep it simple when its time to change oil. One oil for all. Synthectics are the best oil to use period. I would like to use the best in my sled. I know they cannot refuse me warranty for the use of a different oil. I will not get into that long story. Legal issues. I just do not feel comfortable with a Dealer that beats around the bush about the oil question :4STroke: :drink: and states he does not know anything about the clutch rattle that there is a fix for.
