I know this has been covered before but I can't seem to find the thread in my search. When could you switch over to synthetic engine oil?? Right now my 07 GT has 500 miles on it, and this will be its first oil change. Would this be too soon to go with a synthetic oil?? maybe I should just run some dino oil for a little while longer.

Thanks.

Use dino oil for at least the next change. They continue to go faster as thy continue to break in for the next 1500 miles anyway. Hold off on the synthetic for now.

So just go to any parts store or wherever and buy some petroleum 0W-30 right?

Yes, or you can use a 5-30. I use the cheap stuff till 2000 miles. Use no more than 30 WT. I see gsxr recommended 40 WT, but anytime you add viscosity it robs power.

I have always wondered what the first oil in the sled is when you pick it up new from the dealer. If it is yamalube 4S 0-30, then I understood it was a synthetic blend. Why not stick with it for now?
