Trip after trip problem every trip. Just got my slide issue fixed with new wheels and some tweeks so i took her to u.p, 150 miles in i notice it getting louder and back firing.had to drive the whole trip with bad donuts i believe( havng investigated yet).
Well this leads me to tell my self time for a new one. I am very loyal to yamaha but that white f1100 turbo has really got me intrested.
I dont wanna b a artic cat guy but i think i could pull it off with just a new coat.
Are the 2012 xtx reliable cause im gettn pretty sick of my 06 letting me down.

Can't really speak to the reliability of it yet, but i fell in love with this sled as soon as i rode it. It was a completely different beast (for the better) from my 06 Attak. Love IT! Of the guys i know that have em, the most any of us have is about 1000miles, so far so good. I'm thinking you'd have to wait till this time next year to get an accurate picture of these things reliability.

Awwwww, come on. You're just convincing yourself you need a new sled. Because of bad donuts? Come on, that's a given on every Apex that you'll have to replace those. So forget the maintenance aspect. Just ask your self if you want a new sled. If so, get one. Which one? IMHO both sled's you've mentioned are awesome. But I'd Definately wait on the Cat until next year to let Cat sort out some of their first year issues.

I just dont want to be the guy on the trip with issues. I did new donuts last year with stainless y pipes. $$$

Ya if you want a new or better sled go for it. But I wouldn't worry about a sled with slide problems with a custom extension on it or donut problems on a 6 year old....it's what happens when you buy used unfortunately.

Plus one of my hid lights dosent work some times so u got to turn the key a few times. It was a great trip to mass city but my sled kinda let me down.

- 2016 RS Vector XTX 1.25 Lug wifes..2013 RS Vector LTX.. 2003 600 VMax Past Machines 3-2007 Attaks 1-2010 Vector LTX.. sorry no Stinkdoos or poo's cats.
My 2 Cents. Sounds like you got some money to spend. I'm jealous. I'd love a new XTX. If I didn't buy a new Lance camper this past fall I would have gotten into one.
I wouldn't by a Cat. Like I've posted before I've had 4 Yami's now and now issues at all with them. I have got almost 9k on my Attak and no problems except 2 wheels and I'm a huge guy with bad trails around here. I'm totally stock except for revalve, big boy spring,Yami Heater.
You sled didn't leave you on the trail did it? Problems probably from after market stuff on the sled I bet.
I would buy one just because of the longer track, power steering, and over all improvements. Is the Cat a new designed machine from ground up? if so your in for big problems certainly.
Buy this new XTX keep it stock within reason and just ride it and you won't have big issues.

New Cats have lots and lots of problems too!!! Slider wear, blown idler wheels, kinked tunnels, fuel leaks, less than stellar handling, ride and top end performance. I seriously was thinking about one too but I will wait till 2013 to make my decision!! The bad winter really made this easy for me!!

How many miles on the donuts? Properly installed?

Love My 2011 XTX but I agree that Cat looks good and is scary fast. Too many issues w/ Artic Cat IMO, but would love to try it out just to compare.
I had an 06 GT and Attak, liked both but the 2011 is better at everything. Good Luck w/ your decision.

I lost an HID light (again) on Saturday but mine is a solid state failure. Probably the ballast again. This of course is not a Yamaha issue as they are aftermarket. I am sure that Kurt at Sled Start will take care of me as he did last time.
The donuts & Y pipes however are well known Yamaha issues that I would think they should have solved by now on the newer models. I see that you and I live close to each other. Waldoch Sports over in Columbus has replaced my donuts twice and the Y pipes once under warranty. The second time they put in updated Y pipes but I am not sure about the donuts.
Bottom line is that all brands of sleds have issues and routine maintenance is required on all of them. I can tell you that my Apex has never been on the wrong end of a tow rope even once! I have however pulled a few Doo 800's home with blown motors. Once with bad donuts but my Apex still got us both home!

To the OP, if you think you got problems now, with a six year old sled, and you think you want to get a new cat turbo,go to Hardcoresledder, and search posts by luvsthemud. Read up on what he and many others have to say about them. Come back and let us know what you decide. Every sled requires preventitive maintenance. If you do it in the fall before it snows, you will be thanking yourself all winter long. If it is a donut problem with your exhaust, get the copper ones, and you shouldn,t have to change them again.

I have some intermittent issues with my HID's too. Are you using the original harness or the new patch cables?
