Im looking to get a new track for my sled. Its an '01 600 XC with 6,000+ miles on it and lets just say that the OEM track has just about had it. Ive got about 6 spots where the studs ripped out and some of those spots are very close to the track windows.
So, tell me about the Ripsaw. Ive been told by some people that its great on hardpack but it kinda sucks in powder. I also looked at the Camoplast Predator track, but that looks to be great in powder but sucks on hardpack.
Im a fairly aggressive trail rider, I ride in conditions that could range anywhere from hardpacked trails to loose, chewed up snow to 12" deep powder. I do not plan to stud my track.
I know Im going to get a 1.25" lug track. Ive got a .91" lug track with 96 studs right now its OK, but I want something that hooks up a little bit better.
Im leaning towards the Ripsaw, but Id like to hear some opinions. I considered the Hacksaw as well, but it only comes in 1" lug, and thats not tall enough for what I want.
Also, whats the pros and cons as far as fully clipped vs every 3rd clipped?
Thanks.

IMO The ripsaw is a very good track in all trail conditions, Yes I know some of the boondocker & lake racers, will disagree, but for Trail Riding it is great. I'll never go back to a 1" track for the area's I ride, which are most likely the same places you go as well. My ripsawa have held up great. both mine are studded (168 & 108)

i have rode a ripsaw and a 6 pitch back to back on groomed trails and ill take the ripsaw anyday. it just feels more planted. i had to buy a fully clipped track to run extroverts on my attak and i went with another ripsaw. i would go with the clipped every third. its lighter and i have not seen any difference in hifax wear.

Check out prior posts by LazyBastard regarding tracks. His posts on tracks describe which ones are best for specific riding conditions.

I prefer the 6 pitch over the rip saw if you ride aggressive the 6 pitch is alot more durable I never ripped a lug off and my ripsaw liteally came apart at 500miles.I don't mean to start a war here just myopinion so no bashing please.

I have had the best luck with 9830(1") & 9818(1.25") series predator tracks. They have super hard lugs & work well on any conditions. Ripsaw is good on hardpack snow only but softer inner lugs are fragile.

I agree with Ryan and Mike about the 6 pitch tracks. The 9830 and 9818 are possibly the 2 best track Camoplast has ever made. They perform well in all conditions. They are better off trail than Ripsaw or Hacksaw and are a all around better track. HOWEVER, the Ripsaw on hardpack is better, the Ripsaw is better on top end than 9818 and Ripsaw weighs less. I think the Ripsaw is a good happy medium if you want a 1.25" track. If all you do is trail ride and lake ride, then get the ripsaw, if you go off trail alot then go with the 9818...BBY

I like the Ripsaw a lot for the riding that I do. I have 144 down the center and it hooks up great on the trails. I ruined my last track near the windows when the outer belt studs rupped out.

Sounds like the Ripsaw is the way to go. I ride just about 100% on-trail and usually the snow is either rock-sold groomed hardpack or its chewed-up with big moguls and deep holes.
Thanks a lot!

If you are used to studs, try the Ice Ripper. It is an excellent compromise between studs that rip out and no studs! I love mine!

on the sx500r i was runnin last season i have a 121" ripsaw. i bought it used from a fellow tyer who was longtracking a srx. only put 1000km on it. sled had a little less than 1000km on it when i put it on. sled now has 3500km on it. i love this track now. make shure c-c and offset are dead on or prepare to buy belts. i trail run and it is awsome.
did a 400km ride with a fellow ty'er last saeson. of the 4 sleds mine was the only unstudded one. i hung right there with the srx, sxr and a 700 tripple polaris all day. other than it will not slide out at all on snow (pissed me off at first) it is an awsome track.

I would definately recommend the ice claw.... i put one on the wifes vector, and now on my 07 attak, love this track, gives you that little extra traction witout the negatives of studs....
got both of mine from rich, great to deal with.
