Tall & X-tall windshields

I had ordered a tall windshield for the Apex last week. My dealer then showed me a new letter from Yamaha stating the tall & extra tall windshields for the Apex/Attak will bend at high speeds, and when mounting they now recommend mounting support brackets drilled into the top cover. Needless to say I canceled the order. Those who have the tall & extra tall windshield ordered should check with their dealer.

I cancelled my order.. Maybe next year Yamahaha or an aftermarket company will come up with a better design

Thanks cgwiz--after reading your post I called my dealer and they confirmed what you had said. I don't want some dorky windshield with brackets so I too cancelled my order (that I placed 2 months ago). Guess I'll have to deal with a shield that's too low for a while.

Is the windshield bracket to support a weak windshield or to support a weak headlight pod?

We've noticed on a friends Apex that at high speeds and the stock windshield the headlight points more to the sky than at low speeds...

I ordered the sheild in sept before i even bought the sled and yamaha keeps moving the ship date ahead its now supposed to be available 26 Feb which is when its starting to warm up its been a damn cold winter in Labrador and i love the sled but im froze most of the time would not buy another yamaha product untill all accesories were in place.Yamaha sends a survey asking you to rate their dealers you can imagine how i feel

I agree totally on the acessories issues. I asked my dealer to pass my opinions on to Rob Powers this weekend at the show. He's the regional sales manager for sleds. Doubt if it will help
