TD Max spool 16 sm

For the guys running maxspool 16 , is it worth the money to use cold air intake? Or is the stock air box good enough?

I have CAI running MS16 cant really tell from the saddle if there is ant improvement or not. with side panel removed engine compartment is a lot cleaner looking getting rid of the plastic air box. I have cold air filter that is open from the front and have it mounted up as high as possible even made a bracket to keep it aganiest the hood so the front air scoop is not blocked off from air getting to the clutch. I did add more air intakes on both sides of my sled and added a lot of air exhaust vents to get hot air out from under the hood. my intake temps are never high like some have reported on here, i think the key is to add much more air intake and exhaust to create constant cold air flowing through the engine compartment, good for clutch and should be good for CAI. with the stock venting there is a lot of heat being trapped under the hood. I used several SLP 2 inch air vents plus the the rear facing scoops on the side panels that are sealed off, i opened them all up in the side panel and the lower panels on both sides.

Bringing this back to the Top... Really liking the Stock Muffler tune.. I hear this tune is really good.. Do you need to run the 3 bar map sensor and Cold Air Intake? How is it if you get bad gas.. I don't plan on changing the gearing on my TCat as I dont care about top end.. Just want a really good strong Trail sled and occasional impromptu race. I am not holding it wide open for miles and miles.. Sled is brand new 0 miles.. Just still in my investigation stage, so Lets here it..

I am running TD SM bundle with 3bar sensor and Turbosmart BOV, stock intake. For me I probably would have been fine with just the tune and not the BOV and sensor. There isn't a sled in our group that will touch mine in a race or top end (even with the speed robbing Cobra track) but we are doing more back country riding now.

If you are interested in just one tune from TD to run with stock muffler, this is it. Do not go for a lesser hp tune!

Sled still has very good trail manners at low speeds, but BIG difference from stock once those rpms get to 6K!
Yes to BOV, and as you call it 3D map sensor. You will also need to play with your clutches for this added power.
I did gear mine up by adding a 22T, but your cat gearing is a bit different then my stock 21/41 Winder. Need 91 octane with this though! Lesser tunes = lesser octane, if that is a problem. Boost is addicting !!!!!!

Sorry, I meant to say 3 bar map sensor.. Yes, of course I will need to change the clutching... Octane won't be an issue.. Well maybe up north... His knock protection should let me know as I heard it is best out of most tunes..

The factory blow off in some cases can start to leak early not utilizing the full boost potential. The 3 bar allows them to better control fueling at higher boost numbers this tune is capable of. Mine ran 17.5-17.8 psi with turbosmart bov and 3 bar.

When you order the tunes you need to be specific on what hardware your running( cold air,3 bar,stock or high volume fuel pump etc) and this will insure you get the right tunes. In the case of max16 and some others I believe the tune is designed for cold air intake but works fine with stock air box, just runs a tad richer. I prefer to use stock airbox.

Hey justin,have you been out in any fields or trails yet? I see caribou and van buren had posted some early grooming,although only on there beds,but as most know the County does not need much depth to produce good results,and yes i understand they are not yet open,just wondering if you had ventured out for a short burst.

I took a very small cruise friday night to see if I could make it to the rr bed. Lots of water and "creeks"crossing the trail and some exposed rocks. We got another 4-5 inches or so in the last storm and we are getting a very cold snap so should have some improvement. I more good storm of 6" of more and should start to be pretty fairly decent. Im gonna try and take another cruise before the weekend to see how things improved after the small storm and cold weather.
