The attached picture is where I (with the help of my local mechanic) mounted the sensor for my temp. gauge. By mounting it on the metal tube, the unit is grounded.
 

Looks good, but why didn't you weld a female pipe bushing onto the tube instead of the male nipple (so you wouldn't have to use the close union)?
 
JDKRXW.........Good point and that was our original plan. However, my mechanic, Paul, felt he could get a better weld on the male nipple rather than on a female bushing. Honestly, I do not know why Paul felt this way, but he is a welder and did the welding.
