so i have one of the 08 vectors in the garage for a carb clean, while pilot jets were soaking in carb cleaner i wondered why the sled would always die when playing in the banks, or climbing rivines, so i started to check the fuel pumps. i put my vacum pump on the bottom one, and it trickled fuel constantly, not much, but a slow steady stream. tested the top one, would not pump at all with constant vacum, but if i pulsated the vacum it would flow. should it be like this, or is it supposed to flow constantly with constant vacum?

It's the pulses that operate the fuel pump.

so why does one work constantly?
if fuel level is higher than the pump outlet it will siphon

sled has quarter tank. i'm thinking 2 stroke sleds have different fuel pumps. because they get pulses from the crank.

They operate in the exact same way, the pump has no idea what type of engine its pulse line is hooked up to.
