We finally got some snow here in Cali on Friday so I was able to try out summer mods. Only a couple feet or so; but, I had a blast.
Last year I did the Holz skid and under-tunnel exhaust but didn't really get to test them out very well. This season I did the wildchild steering and Hartman clutching. Also I widened the boards per other TY member recommendations and put some Doo Summit board edges on. The whole package is a hoot! I am still learning so it was great to feel like wherever my foot went down it landed on a running board.

Hey, do i see a windshield on your sled with the Wildchild kit?
If so, what height of bar riser are you using and do you like it?

Frosty, I had 7" riser with stock bars on mine before WC kit and it still felt a tad short. Now it is 4" riser with the WC kit and stock bars and felt very good for that couple-hour ride Friday. It is the stock windshield, I just pulled off the rubber edge, cut it down a couple inches following the old curve, and reapplied the edge.
I am on the road now and will try to get some pics for you when I get home. I also need to show some shots of the unrolled board edges, I love that mod.
Mopar,
It is a neat area (not necessarily for sledding) it was a turn-of the-century ranger camp that has been restored in a beautiful meadow. Forest Service also added a well with a hand pump (background).

In case anyone was interested here are some mod pics. I trimmed the stock windshield (following the original contour) just enough so that the cables barely hit the top of the WS at full turn.
I unrolled the boards, added Doo edges and a piece of alum stock. I original did this because I wanted to be able to step next to the cooler hose, I always found myself back there and my foot would slip. Ironically, now with the WC rider-forward, I doubt that I will be back there much. Even so, I still love how wide the boards are now - best $70 that I have spent on the sled.
On Friday the noise from the under-tunnel exhaust gave me a headache. So I added a baffle before the glasspack, I hope to see if that cuts down the noise/resonance this week.

Just curious, what did you use to cut the windshield? Looks good and clean. Thanks

I just used metal shears and took my time. It was a pretty warm day, that may have helped make things not so brittle.

I got another 50 miles yesterday in nice deep powder. Loved the Hartman clutching while going slow in the trees, much easier to control than stock.
