Did Yamaha cover the cost for the front panels?

I agree, I think the vents are really just cosmetic.. they look nice
but 12$ at a local metal shop for .040 alum seemed like a much better deal.

I put the Excell panel on my wife's FX, rode about 175 miles and never had any problems with water leakage or ice buildup due to the louvers. I agree with everyone else who has posted - the louvers add alot to the look of the sled. I was tempted to leave the update side panels on after installing the Excell panel but my wife insisted it would look alot "cooler" without them. She was right. I ended up putting some small button head bolts in the holes that were left by the bolts that held the update tunnel covers on. The Excell panel looks really trick and so far I can say that it has completely eliminated the ice buildup problem in the tunnel and the running boards. And my wife is alot happier camper which is the most important thing!!!!
She wanted to swap sleds with me while we were riding this past weekend, I was surprised because normally she hates riding my Apex compared to hers. After riding a while we stopped and she asked me if I wanted a Phazer of my own yet. Well guys, no offense but I'll take my Apex any day to the Phazer. It just rides so much differently than the Apex! Fun sled but not for me. But as long as she is happy, I'm happy!!! As the old saying goes...
Correct me if I'm wrong here!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Do you have to close the front opening also ?
Or if the Excell panel is enough ?

Hard to tell - but a bit of water comes out b/c there are small frozen particles on the top of the enclosure. Not sure about the cooling value, but it looks great.

I have the Yamaha panels on the front, and Excell cover on the rear - it looks pretty good. I had to pay for the Yamaha panels, but received a dealer warranty credit on the rear panels b/c they did not work and the blue paint was chipping off.

I am in the process of covering my back hole and I took off the rear plastics and one of the aluminum side pieces. Then i went for a ride and the side without the aluminum piece and plastics stayed perfectly clean and the other side still iced up. So, i was thinking of not even covering the hole and trying that for a bit.

I can only ride this thing in powder 30minutes tops. SOAKED 3 inches of slush on runningboard. I ve got the big hole covered, louvred side panel crappers, installed ,new boots. Ever notice how the bolt on the tunnel is located right where your boot comes in contact the most. so far ive got 300bucks to cure it, not including gas so add another 400lol yamahas not doing a thing.

It looks great - though I still have to polish the tunnel and cover.

I think reason that worked is because the plastic directs the water/snow over the sidepanels.Without plastic it was able to just fall back through hole. But once it is around -5 and powder nothing short of closing it off is going to do much.
