PLUGGING THE FRONT HOLE

One word of caution, I used aluminum rivets on my rear tunnel closure and they wore through... I'm assuming from vibration. They were smaller rivets, and I may have not used enough of them... but if it were me, I'd use stainless!

Oops, I used aluminum. We will see how long they last.
 
I installed alluminum Rivets and they all vibrated loose, had to drill them out and use steel rivets. No problems since.

If the front heat exchanger was not so curved the snow would probaly slide right out. I might go with a free ride track next fall but iam going with the cheaper fix first. It is really embarassing when riding with other snowmobile brands and i got to stop and kick the snow out of the front heat exchanger. Been told more than once to ditch the phazer and get something else. But i prefer to fix the problem. Thanks for the info.

Wel I've had engine Ice in my sled for a year never had a problem and I ride in manitoba.
 
Well i got a chance to go for a ride today. There was definetly less snoww build up in the tunnel then before when playing in the powder with the front hole closed. But the front heat exchanger still builds up with snow and ice and guess what. The engine temp like comes on. You can ride on hard packed all day to the bar and it will not over heat. Guess iam going to try Liquid performance antifreeze to see if that helps cure the problem. I guess i will give an update when i can tell you how things go. I can see how a 1.5 track would clean the heat exchanger better. Personaly i think the heat exchangers under the running boards is a much better design then in the front.
