Well we got about 5" overnight. After all my have too's were completed this morning I got a chance to take out the MTX for a short 8 mile shakedown through the woods and in a couple of open feilds. This is way too early for positive impressions but here is what I noticed:
Power feels good and midrange pulls hard.....top end does not seem to be what the Attak had, but time may show some improvement here.
The ride is very comfy... soaks up everything I could throw at it, this time around.
I'm only about 5'9" and the seat position is awesome. Actualy I may cut off an inch from the riser to make it feel better when sitting and it will still be just fine for me when standing and tossing it through the trees. It will also move the bars forward a tad without the use of a pivot unit.
It feels a bit tippier than the Attak wider skistance did, but not a problem at all. It will be nice having the narrower stance in the POW when boonedocking.
The lack of engine braking is a pleasent change for me, never felt like it wanted to pitch me over the bars when standing thru a sharp direction change. Thanks Yamaha for that!
The low end powerband is wayyyy cool, very easy to just creep along without the clucth banging in and out all the time.
Oh yea I had plenty of fuel on board for the ride.... never came close to running out. LOL!
The engine exhaust tone is quiet and soothing to the rider. Maybe a little too quiet, but again time will tell if something with a bit more roar will be in order. I'm pro-quiet...don't like loud sliencers because of the grief they give us on private property ie: keeping local trails open.( I'm one of the guys that have to go out and get private property owners to sign a land lease for our local trails) I always prefer to off-trail ride, but I feel the need to keep the trails open, this is the easiest way to keep all the rifraft out of my virgin off-trail areas!
Lets see...what didn't I like.... the fact that I didn't have 2' of fresh to try it out
I'll report later.... Happy Thanksgiving to all

What clutching & gearing did you go with? I went with all the low alt. stuff. I am in Roscommon & only got a couple of rips across the grass only 1 or 2 inches of snow. But sure felt good.

I changed greaing to the recommended low-e for 0'-2000'. I loaded the arms heavier than recommended to keep from over-reving during breakin. After its broke in I'll just drill out the arm rivits as needed to obtain my desired RPM.
